Is Donald Trump Above the Law

Really curious to see where (R) stalwarts stand

So, here we are: After a year of lies, denials, and sheer BS,

Trump's legal team is arguing that it doesn't matter if the president

is guilty of high crimes or not, because he is above the law.

This is the tyrannical future Republicans want.

Curious to see where those that vilified Dick Cheney of the last (R) administration stand.
This was a tenet of Cheney's - who argued Nixon was not bound by judges and courts and further argued there was no such thing as abuse of power by a President
(Unless of course he had a funny name and played basketball )

As has been stated by numerous legal scholars,

I have the absolute right to PARDON myself,

but why would I do that when I have done nothing wrong? In the meantime, the never ending Witch Hunt, led by 13 very Angry and Conflicted Democrats (& others) continues into the mid-terms!

The term "absolute right " runs a chill down my spine

Not only was the Clintons above the law, they abused the law and kind of silenced people, if you know what I mean.

As in the times Clinton and/or Obama publicly declared the "absolute right" to pardon themselves ?

AA that is foolish and yes, having lived through the 90's I know exactly what you mean. And what it means

No, Donald is not above the law. The power of the law and the power of checks and balances will still there when enough people go looking for it.

Let me add, can we do away with false equivalencies when discussing Trump ?
There is no precedence for the utter disregard with the norms and restraints so long taken for granted
He pardoned a man that outed a CIA operative

and I guess after all these years AA has finally ripped off the mask to be the poster boy for suburban (R) wannabe ism

There are interpretations from the Justice department over the last 40 years that do imply that the President can pardon himself.

There were articles before the election suggesting that Hillary would pardon herself after she won...whoops.

There are also interpretations from the last 40 years that deny the industrial revolution's effect on the ozone layer

    What is your point ?

And please link me to the Sandy Hook denier that told you about HRC's intent to pardon herself.
    Talk about false equivalencies

Did I say intent? It was articles discussing the constitutionality of a president pardoning themselves. There is legal ground to stand on to say that is justifiable whether or not you want to read anything outside of your bubble.

Dang, man. The President is actually doing it, and you're vaguely referring to what some article somewhere suggested that the person who didn't get elected might have done.

Adam Schiff Retweeted Donald J. Trump

President Nixon asked the Department of Justice if he could pardon himself.

They said no, as no one may be the judge in their own case. He resigned three days later.

In case you want to follow the Nixon model, that would be Thursday.

Keep thinking that homey, while I keep voting Dem more often than Republicans. Unlike you, I will expose our warts and not be a sheep like you....an echo chamber.

At the end of the day it comes down to votes in Congress and those are vaguely determined by who voters pick. You sound like you are learning the struggle of the Libertarian. You know they are all crooks but the people keep voting for them anyway. Maybe we will learn a lesson from all this. Maybe not.

How long before this becomes speculation Trump resigns and Pence pardons him. Certainly plenty of precedent doing that.

that speaks to the point. Should he be re elected his terms would expire in a little over 6 years
