    Rece Hinds.
Has there EVER been a statement and question a certain someone should absolutely never have made and asked publicly more than...

Kinda pathetic to see yourself as a message board knight in shining armor. How impotent does someone have to be in real life to resort to playing hero on a message board?

Yeah you’re right. Another guy thats seems to be connected with Miss St sports just tweeted this so hopefully he’s right.

“The deadline for 2018 MLB Draftees to sign is Friday at 4pm CT.
Carter Stewart SHOULD sign but his wrist injury is making things interesting.
LA may not have enough to sign JT Ginn. We'll see.
Would expect Hoglund has the best chance of the 3 to end up on campus in MS.”

I means the odds are with the Braves with him signing. Top 10 HS pitchers turning down that money to go college rarely work out in the players favor.

This is my thought, regardless if he signs with the Braves. Gotta think he goes to a juco at this point if he doesn’t sign.

Sort of a dumb thing to happen.

I would put it on the Braves if it doesn’t get done.

    Why?

They've told him what the physical told them, and they've made him what they think is a fair offer based on the risk that comes with their perception of what could happen with his injury.

There are always several sides to every story (and plenty opinions involved with each), but it doesn't take much to look at the changing landscape of the game, the huge mistake Holland made in hiring Borass and the bigger mistake he made by playing hardball last winter, and a genius investigating the increasing regularity that Pitchers blow out to figure out that walking away from $4 million when you're an 18 year old is beyond idiotic.

I really don't wish anything bad on the kid if he doesn't sign, but certainly wouldn't feel sorry for him if he's never drafted again - given the millions of dollars teams have lost when signing "old" free-agents who didn't finish as healthy contributors, it's tough to blame them for not wanting to give that much more money away to kids who are already facing health issues that they have no idea will ever actually participate in a major league game.

Because they offered him 4 million dollars despite his injury which suggests that it isn’t a big deal. Haven’t I already said that?

Just get it done and stop playing games.

Only one person signs the contract - if they didn't like what they saw in the physical, there's no reason to up their offer.

Playing chicken over $1 million isn't only dangerous, it's stupid from the player's standpoint. If he's that good - and healthy - he'll make it up before he's 25.

It doesn’t matter if the kid is dumb not to take the money.

The Braves should stop quibbling over saving a little bit of money and the chance to sign another 3rd round type talent and just go ahead and sign the best guy in their draft.

The world won’t end if they don’t but I find it difficult to follow the argument that braves are better off signing none of their remaining picks to get the 9th pick next year.

But hell if the kid caves and they get an extra signing that’s swell.

This isn’t about an extra signing. This is about a franchise making a fair offer to a kid who had an injury pop up on a post draft physical.

don’t sign the best player in your draft over 900k. Sounds like a brilliant move.
