This does piss me off about AA. He sucks at signing draft picks.

His best pitch is a curve ball. If the wrist is serious that could be a major problem for the pitch that everyone wanted him for...

Well, I'm sure there will be some fighting about this until he does or does not suit up for his Juco or Miss State and shows just how injured he actually is.

No idea regarding the severity of this injury, but you simply can’t miss on top ten draft picks. If this injury even slightly raises the risk level of your RHP prep arm, then you punt the pick a year. In the grand scheme of things it’s very insignificant to wait.

So now the big question -- what happens to the $5 million that was budgeted for the draft that is no longer being spent on the draft?

That’s Callis tweet is misleading. If you read the Bowman tweet that he quoted it says that IF the Braves have offered 40% they get the first round pick back next year. It doesn’t say they only offered 40%

I'm not talking about his slot value. As the Braves were preparing for the draft, they had a budget of $8,267,300 that they were prepared to spend on this draft. Now the $4.9 million slot for Stewart isn't being given to him, so we're only spending about $3.37 million of it right now. So we already had that $4.9 million budgeted, where will the team be spending it?

Presumably it would go toward next year’s bonus pool, since that money doesn’t just magically appear from the money fairy next year.

God I hope Stewart signs with the Braves. I live in MS so I will have to listen to all the cowbell ringers talk about having two first to rounders on the team. Yuck.

By the way. Ginn is an idiot for passing on the Dodgers. I’ve seen him pitch a few times. He is incredibly raw. No franchise does a better job of developing players than the Dodgers. He needs some good coaching. Takes more than 97 to be good mlb player. Bone head move to pass on 2 million. But hey he is an MSU guy what do you expect. Lol

Unless his wrist is made of cardboard, I don’t understand how it can make that much of an impact on his long term potential.

The wrist issue must be pretty serious.

If the Braves go into the 2019 draft with picks 9 and 20 they would be in a great position to get 2 Top 10-15 talents.

I might prefer that to an injured pitcher if he is truly in bad shape.

except we loaded up on college guys and they should do that in the low minors.

I'm not going a to f. But no top 10 pick and I'd go C easy.

Maybe that money could go into the ML team if Liberty does the books that way...

I don't see how this works for Stewart.

Say they agreed on 4.5 million. Braves are saying 3.5 million now (total guess, it's probably more). So he's out 1 million and good percentage. Sucks.

If he goes back to school he has to hope in 3 years he's still a first rounder and likely at top 10 guy again to get more money. Meanwhile he misses out on the present value of the money, time to invest the money and takes a huge risk with his health as a pitcher.

The only way he wins this is to go to school and then be a top 5 pick. That's tough odds. Especially with all of the games teams do with money in the draft.

A wrist injury could lead to mechanical adjustments which can lead to more serious injuries. I’m not going to pretend to care I know all that much about this type of stuff, but what I do know is how risky prep pitchers are and if there is any additional risk, it would make me worry.

His best pitch completely relies on his wrist...
