Seems like to me the Braves just need to give Julio 10 days between every start. He hit 93 yesterday.
There is a certain contingent around here that jumps up and down in sheer delight over everything the Braves do. The loved Wren, then they hated Wren. They loved Copy, then they hated Coppy. Now they love AA. After he is gone they will undoubtedly talk about how he was always a terrible GM and the new guy is amazing.
The Wren comments are a way to point out just how stupid that contingent of posters is. He was an average or better GM working under the constraints of a middling payroll and pressure to always contend without the benefit of ever reloading the system.
Or maybe he should just pitch like every day is Father's Day

Not trolling... Wren left Coppy in a really good spot to be successful for a rebuild

other than Acuna, Albies and Camargo you are spot on about the farm system
also there were players drafted or acquired by Wren that were of some value as trade chips--Simmons, Wood, Justin Upton, Gattis. Not all of those chips were wisely used.
We also had the team friendly extension to Kimbrel that enhanced his trade value

when all a team needs is 3 players and 0 pitchers, let me know.
it's kind of crazy how little young ML talent was on the roster when wren departed. even crazier the complete lack of pitching pretty much anywhere in the organization.
who were the young, controllable ML assets when wren was fired? simmons, gattis, wood and ..?
i would hesitate to say any org that is devoid of any pitching at all is set up nicely for a rebuild.

this a bad argument every time it's made.
soroka was drafted in the last 1st. better pick than any of the pitchers wren drafted.
our picks after the 1st round have been better than most of wren's picks in the 1st.
he drafted poorly.
it's also fairly telling that the best thing wren "did" (the int'l market) is the part that the GM likely has the least direct control over.
