    Extra innings

Why do we suck so bad offensively in extras? By my count, we have 3 runs in 21 innings. All 3 were in our 1 win at Washington. 1-6 in extra inning games with 3 of the losses in division.
    Swanson sucks

Without looking, I would venture to say most teams don't have many extra inning runs. That's kinda the nature of extra innings, nobody scores and the game continues.

Braves are 1-7 in extra innings.

These other teams have similar poor records:
    Indians (1-5)
    Angels (1-6)
    Astros (1-4)
    Padres (1-4)

That's funny that, including the Braves, 4 of the 5 worst extra innings records are by teams that could easily make the playoffs this year.

On the other hand, here are some of the better records in extra innings:
    Blue Jays (7-1)
    Mariners (6-0)
    Rangers (6-2)
    Phillies (5-1)

Two of these four teams are already out of their respective races.

The sad thing is, I really don't think you can pin yesterday on just not hitting. Braves hit two balls hard a combined 800 feet during extras. And yes they were outs. If Markakis' drops, it's a walkoff double. If Santana goes about 10 inches further, he hits a walkoff HR.
Aggression with prospects is fine, but being stupid is not. There should be a way to find a happy medium between a Pirates like idea of being overly cautious with prospects and going stupidly fast with prospects.
