Anyone know what his stuff looks like

IF his command stays solid, I'd like to think he gets Moylan off the roster down the road. It was his main issue that had him struggling in the minors before this year, folks always said he had the goods.
Aggression with prospects is fine, but being stupid is not. There should be a way to find a happy medium between a Pirates like idea of being overly cautious with prospects and going stupidly fast with prospects.
This will accelerate the quest for bullpen help.

That Herrera trade hurts a little more now. Would be nice to have him to plug in.

Cole Hamels is not what he used to be (although not bad) and is making $22 mil this year.
Beltre is “ok” ...four HR’s but is at least batting .314 BUT he is also making $18 mil this year.
I don’t see the Braves taking on that money and I don’t see those two guys making a massive difference for the money and prospect paid.

All of that for 2 expensive rentals?? No thanks.

A. They're not making 22 and 18 mil at this point in the season so you can almost cut that in half.
B. The Rangers would have to kick in enough cash to make it suitable for us to give up the prospects I have in the deal.
Teams I think we match up best with:
1) White Sox-Avilan
2) Blue Jays-Solarte/Loup
3) Rangers-Beltre/Claudio/Diekman
4) Mets-Asdrubal Cabrera
5) A's-Lowry
I think we match up less well with the Royals even though Moose would make sense as a platoon partner for Camargo. The Royals are in penny pinching mode and less likely to pick up part of Moose's remaining salary.
In terms of how much it would cost to get these players, here is my rough take
1) Avilan--a couple prospects like Jean Carlos Encarnacion or Odalvi Javier
2) Loup--very cheap given he is a rental...just one of Encarnacion/Javier
3) Diekman--same as Loup
4) Claudio--more given he will have 3 more years of team control...one of de la Cruz/Ynoa/Rangel/Wisler/Sims plus one of Encarnacion/Javier
For the third basemen:
1) Beltre--similar to Claudio
2) Lowrie--similar to Claudio
3) Asdrubal Cabrera--similar to Claudio
4) Solarte--a little more given the additional options for 2019 and 2020...might have to give up Fried here if they insist on quality over quantity
5) Donaldson--I think he would cost more than Beltre/Lowrie/Cabrera. Probably close to Solarte. He is a better player than Solarte, but a pure rental.
I would do all of the above trades. We are overpaying. But not egregiously so. Contender's premium is a fact of life with these kinds of deals.
6) Machado--one of Allard/Wright plus one of Touki/Wilson/Fried/Wentz. I would not do this, but would be tempted. The other deals I listed above make more sense for us.
In the above, I assume the teams trading with us pick up most of the remaining 2018 salary for guys like Beltre/Lowrie/Cabrera/Solarte/Machado/Donaldson.

Pitchers excel at 2 things: throwing baseballs and getting injured.

Hard to believe Viz is only 27 years old.
Pretty confused why the Braves would be trading away position prospects at lower levels, which they have a relative weakness of, for mediocre lefty relievers.
At least get a good reliever out of it.
