I mean....it took an epic collapse...likely the worst in baseball history. Odds are on our side...right?
The thing that pisses me off the most about that scenario is that the play in game happened a year later. We could have used that in 2011. And 2012 we got bounced early because of it.

I think if you are really going for it you had better go get at the very least
1) a high leverage reliever
2) a lefty specialist reliever
3) 1 or 2 bench bats to get Ryan Flaherty and Michael Reed off the 25 man roster.
Optional would be an upgrade at 3B or in the rotation.
Is that the year the Braves would have played the Brewers in the NLDS? If so, blame that collapse on me.
I bought 2 game tickets, plane tickets, and hotel rooms for the entire series in Atlanta and Milwaukee for my dads birthday present (we are originally from WI and he’s a Brewers fan).
The moment I clicked “buy” on everything, the Braves started losing. We ended up spending a couple boring days in Atlanta and watching the DBacks in Milwaukee. My dad was still pretty happy, but that trip would have been epic.
I'm digging this team alot. The team never seems to get down, always seems to be in games until the end. A good example is the game against the O's where they came back to send it to extras. A team merely slogging its way through a season doesn't do that.
I wouldn't say anything less than the playoffs would be a disappointment. I suspect if we miss, it'll be because the Nats got hot and at that point you just have to tip your cap. That being said, I'm feeling really good about this team and its situation at the moment.
I've been grumpy about nearly everything in the organization for so long that it's taken a while to internalize that it isn't just fun to watch this team, but that they're actually good. It's been really exciting and enjoyable.
Agreed, on paper the Braves look good for years to come, but baseball is a crazy/cruel game.
I wouldnt gut the farm for Machado, Hamels, Britton, and Iglesias or anything but if the Braves could get a controllable late inning RP, and someone to spell Swanson/Camargo as you said without gutting the farm, then go for it.
The NL is right there for the taking this year.
