I really can't imagine it'll be for much more than Wisler level talent for either one, especially Moose. May be I'm wrong, but Moose was available at super discounted prices just 4-5 months ago and no one wanted him. He hasn't gained any value since then, the 3b market is still pretty deep, and he's a rental (no one is touching that 2nd year option).

That is far more reasonable then the price it seemed like for a while. Geez for a minute I thought they were going to get Diaz, May, AND Lux lol

I thought the exact same thing. I definitely wouldn’t give that up at this stage of the rebuild, but that’s not horrible at all.

Still, this is a huge get for a woeful Orioles system.

If the Orioles have any shot of building something that resembles a decent farm system, they are going to have to do it through trades like this. Sometimes it baffles me how they approach drafting and the J2 market. I just don't understand what they are thinking in that regard.

That didnt cost near as much as i thought.

Thats like Braves moving Anderson, Cruz, Ynao and two filler pieces.

Not as good as the rumored package of May and Diaz, but a good return for 3 months of Machado, imo.

I know Machado has 2 months on his deal but they got kinda fleeced there.

Diaz isnt bad but i would have wanted more back.

Seems like a very good get. Brannon has 20 homers in A+ ball...I know he's a little old for that league but still nice pop. Diaz is a nice piece and Kremer has 114 SOs in 79 IP in A+ (again he's a little old for the league).

I think it's pretty clear no one was offering more than that and it's unlikely the Orioles draft someone with the comp pick that's any better than Diaz. When you consider the extra 4 players they are receiving (a couple of them legit prospects) it can't be considered anything but a win for the O's, imo.

The Dodgers have the luxury of making such trades with a strong farm and a loaded core full of position players under control for several years, and one of the largest payrolls in baseball.

I'd be more interested what Philly was offering for Machado.

Medina was supposedly in the offer but idk what else.

Medina is not any better than Diaz. Ignoring the fact that position players are more valuable, Diaz will likely finish the season as a top 75 prospect while Medina will likely not remain on most top 100 lists with the year he is having.

This is actually a pretty underwhelming return. The Braves could have easily beat this package without hurting the system too much.

Given this package represents quantity over quality, I think I would have been in favor of the Braves acquiring Machado.

Teams just simply aren't giving up much for rentals anymore. At least not compared to years past.

Including the contenders premium Machado has something like 30 million in surplus value for the rest of the season. Diaz as a 50 FV prospect carries 20 million in surplus value. Valera was a 40 FV guy at the start of the season and the other two weren't ranked. They might become something but it seems pretty fair on the surplus value standpoint.

There's what, about 5 million left on the contract this year? Recent articles would have seemed to have indicate the Braves could have added that due to the unexpected uptick in attendance. Only issue is, who knows if that's the extent of the budget we have left. We certainly have more needs than Machado, including bench and bullpen pieces.

Prioritizing additions around the edges over adding a player like Machado is silly. Moving Camargo to the bench permanently strengthens it significantly.

Most likely the Braves couldn’t add that much payroll as easily as AA tries to make it sound.

I’m confident they add another option at 3b though. The good news is this deal helped keep the cost of those other 3b options very low.

Yeah, that seems pretty light, something like Ynoa, Anderson, Cruz, Demeritte, and DPete or something isnt something i'd be mad about. Or maybe i'm underrating what LA gave up.
