They really are an utterly loathsome group.

They are waaay due to play some bad baseball. Phils are a good team, but no way they keep this up.

Current playoff odds on FiveThirtyEight have us with 56% to make playoffs and 39% to win division.

They lost 3 of 4 to the Reds recently, unfortunately Braves ran into the Dodgers, did the same and gained no ground.

I'm probably the only one who doesnt think Philly is bad, or are just smoke and mirrors. They have a better rotation than we do, better bullpen, and Kapler > Snit. Our offense is better when it's going but there's isnt bad, anyway.

Here's their schedule the rest of the month, kinda tough.

2 with Fish, hope Miami can get 1.
    3 in AZ
    3 in SD
    2 vs Bos, face Sale/Porcello
    4 vs Mets
    3 at Was
    3 at Tor
    3 vs Was
    3 vs Cubs

Their September schedule is really easy but everyones schedule is the same so they even out, they get Miami and the Mets 12 times total. Besides, if they arent as good as everyone here says, we should have no problem with them when we meet again.

The Phillies actually are overachieving Pythagorean W/L some but for me, -5/+5 is in the margin of error that you can see and with today honestly, the way baseball is, outside bad defense, unfortunately they built their team as a carbon copy of how most teams play baseball today. Excellent pitching, an offense that will work your pitching over hard and be willing to take a walk, and hit bombs.

Unfortunately it feels like a team that has grown up through this year and is legitimately good, with still more room to grow and develop even more.
Aggression with prospects is fine, but being stupid is not. There should be a way to find a happy medium between a Pirates like idea of being overly cautious with prospects and going stupidly fast with prospects.
