Is it wrong to hope Degrom strains his back sneezing and can't pitch? Nothing serious, just some spasms that keep him out the rest of the series.

I’m just hoping a Culberstorm sweeps him away.

We got lucky earlier in the year when he got injured early in a start and was pulled.

yes it is wrong. Wish for the mets defense to have 10 errors. Always good to keep yoir wishes realistic.

Expecting deGrom to own us again but the Mets somehow figure out a way to lose the game.
Aggression with prospects is fine, but being stupid is not. There should be a way to find a happy medium between a Pirates like idea of being overly cautious with prospects and going stupidly fast with prospects.

The Mets’ lineup is just unbearably bad... I know it’s any day type game, but good Lord they’re bad.

Snit sure doesn't consider past success vs pitchers as much as other managers, he continues to use his catchers and platoon players against that. Flowers hits deGrom well but he started last night despite Suzuki almost single handedly beating Vargas earlier in NY (thinking three run homer in the first). Tonight Flowers made more sense given his .364 line and one homer vs deGrom and Suzuki hitting a poor .111 against him. It also made more sense to get Culberson in at short last night than tonight IMO. That said, I don't like our chances vs deGrom in any case. I just hope Sanchez dominates and we stay in it and win anyway. Maybe the Mets help us out again making a bad throw on a pick-off or something.

Jackson is starting tonight vs Sanchez due to his past success against him (hitting .429 in a small sample of 7 AB's).

Again, you’re suggesting making lineup decisions based on a small sample of PAs...about 10 in these cases.

I’m glad the Braves are smart enough not to use this method.

Every manager considers past success and failures vs starters and they're all going to be small samples. You are the dumbass if you don't see that they do so.

If they are doing it, then its a pretty stupid strategy. You can't infer basically anything from fewer than 20 plate appearances. If you follow that model you would consistently run in to situations where it made more sense to start someone like Ryan Flaherty over Freeman at first base, just because Ryan was 7 for 15 against (insert pitcher here) and Freeman was 2 for 16. Its just not smart

I didn't say it was the only consideration, that is what Enscheff is trying to imply because he is a total jerk. But you know every manager has come out and said he is starting [insert player] tonight because of his past success against him, etc. Plus when facing deGrom you want every edge you can get and someone that has hit him well, small sample or not, is worth consideration. Does that mean you ever start a RF over Freddie Freeman? No, that would be stupid unless Freeman is hurting.

Yeah, they might if there is a large enough sample size. But, the most ABs vs DeGromm of anyone not in the lineup tonight is Swanson, and that's only 13. In Flowers case it's only 11. That's hardly enough matchups to be making decisions like that. I'm not sure why you're getting so defensive.

Markakis actually got a fastball down the middle there, but couldn't hit it out. deGrom looked great otherwise that inning. Hope Sanchez is on his game tonight.

You guys have your own opinions, but there is very little I wouldn’t give for deGrom. Dude is the best.

Now that I say that, we will get 5 runs off him lol

If you want to know why, go back to the game thread a few days ago where Enscheff twisted what I said on this topic.
