How did Sobotka's inning go? Didn't get to see. Was he dominant wire to wire from first batter to last?

He looked really good. Sat 95-98, struck out the first batter, and generated weak contact against the other two. It was a good debut.

Fastball was similar to Allards in velocity, movement like Sims and hitting his spots like JT.

    Easy inning basically.

Why would they? You mean in the minors or full time? He's still viewed as a starter and rightfully so.

To be quite frank about Sobotka— we’ve long needed to shore up the pen with another man.

I like this kid and hope he has a great finish with us, main concern is keeping down the walks. Chad Bell on the other hand stinks and should've been DFA'd rather than added to our roster.

Sure, but can he be a long man?

    1) Braxton Davidson (at least he's finally hitting for power)
    2) Garrett Fulenchek (trade for slot money that was illegally used by, you know)
    3) Max Povse (a big leaguer, but with Seattle. He was part of the deal for Alex Jackson)
    4) Sobotka, who signed over slot for $400 K
    5) Chris Diaz (does anyone at all know what became of him? 10 games for Rome in 2014, and that was it)
    6) Keith Curcio (had 1,400 minor league at-bats before his release at end of 2017. Playing indy ball in KC)
    7) Luke Dykstra (Len's kid was very much liked for about five minutes. Moved to St. Louis in 2017 and still in AA)
    8) Brad Roney (injured, still in system)
    9) Jordan Edgerton (promising debut in '14, released after '16, bouncing around indy ball in '18)
10 Matt Tellor (barely remember him. Big 1B, released after a month in Rome in '16 with .171 average and 31 Ks in 82 ABs)
Tellor was the college senior way underslot guy. I think he signed for $5,000 or something in that neighborhood.

With his walk issues, he at least has Braves closer written all over him. (Viz, Minter and now Sobotka LOL)

I know he is, by me as well. I'm of the opinion we need our best arms in the major league pen going down the stretch. I don't think it stunts his growth as a starter at all.

Already looks like a better hitter than Swanson.

I would pinch hit an angry Teheran over Swanson or Flaherty at this point.
