Aggression with prospects is fine, but being stupid is not. There should be a way to find a happy medium between a Pirates like idea of being overly cautious with prospects and going stupidly fast with prospects.

With a .234 BABIP who was bound to regress, which we just saw. When you're playing a good team you have to go with what the stats say and not with feelings.
Venters was the optimal guy.
But Biddle was not a bad choice because:
1) He has been good
2) He is rested
3) 2 of the first four guys up were righties.
Otoh 2 of the first 3 were lefties. So I preferred Venters, who is also good and rested and has conventional splits.

Yes, it wasn't a bad move. Just not the best move. If I were managing tonight, I would have probably pulled Teheran and gone with Brach in the 7th and Venters in the 8th. That's what made the most sense given how the Brewers were set up. It would not have been crazy to let Teheran come back out. But it would be sub-optimal in my view. Just like Biddle over Venters in the 8th was sub-optimal.

I can't make my position any clearer. The optimal move imo was Venters. Biddle was sub-optimal but not indefensible. That's how I see it. There is a world out there between sub-optimal and indefensible.
