Predict the rest of the season

    AL East
    Red Sox
    Yankees 10 GB
    Rays 25 GB
    Blue Jays 31 GB
    O's 49.5 GB (ouch!)

    AL Central
    Indians
    Twins 12.5 GB
    Tigers 18.5 GB
    White Sox 25 GB
    Royals 32 GB

    AL West
    Astros
    A's 1 GB
    Mariners 4.5 GB
    Angels 12.5 GB
    Rangers 21 GB

    NL East
    Braves
    Phillies 2 GB
    gNats 8 GB
    Mets 16.5 GB
    Marlins 21 GB

    NL Central
    Cubs
    Brewers 2 GB
    Cardinals 4 GB
    Pirates 8 GB
    Reds 17 GB

    NL West
    DBacks
    Rockies 1 GB
    Dodgers 2 GB
    Giants 5 GB
    Padres 18.5 GB

    AL Wild Card
    Yankees +3.5
    A's -----
    Mariners 3.5 GB
    Rays 11.5 GB

    NL Wild Card
    Brewers +1
    Phillies
    Cardinals 1 GB
    Rockies 1.5 GB
    Dodgers 2.5 GB
    Pirates 5 GB
    Giants 5.5 GB
    gNats 6 GB

AL East and Central has already been decided...the Red Sox will win the east while the Indians will win the central...outside of those, everything is pretty wide open division wise.....really only a 3 team race for 2 WC positions on the AL side, on the NL side at least 8 teams are right there for 2 spots

The AL has been boring, with only the A's (who happen to be my AL team) providing a surprise.

The NL is a wild & crazy scrum, with nothing decided at this point. I think three teams seemingly on the periphery (the gnats, Pirates and Cardinals) are dangerous. The Brewers, Diamondbacks, Phillies and Rockies are hard to predict. The Braves are also in the hard to predict group. And I am not as bullish on the Cubs and Dodgers as most around here.

Did I say the NL is hard to predict? But since the thread title calls for predictions, here are mine:

    1) In the East, I think the Phillies fade badly down the stretch. gnats surge and battle the Braves to the wire. Braves win the division, gnats get a WC spot.

    2) In the Central, I will go for a major surprise. The Cubs and Brewers both stumble and the Cards and Pirates surge. I give the division to the Pirates and a WC to the Cards.

    3) In the West, I expect all three contending teams battle to the end. I pick the Dodgers in a close race with no WC team from the division.

The A's are my AL team as well...... Did we just become best friends?

I'm guessing something that has good pitching rotation, but struggles to win the big series.

I lived in Oakland for a few years. But I liked the A's even before that. I starting liking them when they had Jackson/Bando/Rudi/Catfish/Vida/Fingers. They have always had a cool vibe about them, even the bad teams. Except for the roids taint during the Bash Brothers period, which I did not like. I didn't like Canseco and McGuire for reasons that seemed obvious even at the time. Giambi too.

...I lived in Healdsburg for a couple years and went to a bunch of Oakland games, but I liked them before that as well. I wasn't old enough to remember it, but I always liked the old teams with guys like Fingers, Eckersley, and Vida Blue. But I grew up with Atlanta as my favorite team in the 90s and started to like Oakland around 2002 when the Moneyball stuff was starting. Specifically when they had the Zito/Mulder/Hudson combo.

The best thing about going to A's games was being able buy cheap tickets and then sneaking up to the seats just behind the dugouts in the late innings. I did this with my sons and they scored some autographs and other great memories. Best memory was of Vlad giving the finger to a fan seated behind the visiting dugout who had been heckling him all game.

I can see the Cardinals over the Brewers. But the Cubs have a +93 RD to the Pirates' +6. You think the Cubs lose more than 8 games on the Pirates from here on out? That is BOLD.

The AL is so much better than the NL. Regardless of what team survives the AL they should handle whatever the NL throws at them.

    AL West:
    Astros
    Mariners get a wild card

Yankees get the other wild card.

    NL West:
    Dodgers
    Diamondbacks get a wild card
    Rockies get a wild card

    NL Central:
    Cubs

    NL East:
    Braves

In the AL I think everything current holds true and we see the Astros, Red Sox, Indians, Yankees, and A's in the playoffs.

In the NL I see it going like this:

    NL East: Braves
    NL Central: Cubs
    NL West: Diamondbacks

Wild Cards will be the Brewers and the Dodgers. We'll play the Diamondbacks first.

I'm thinking it will be something along the lines of the following

    AL East - Red Sox
    AL Central - Indians
    AL West - Astros

    AL Wild Card- 1. Yankees 2. A's

    NL East Braves
    NL Central Cubs
    NL West Dodgers

NL WC: 1. Brewers 2. Phillies

When in doubt, pick the best team....

Braves edge out the Phils in the last week of the season.
    Cubs beat out the Brewers.
Dodgers figure it out and win the West.
Brewers and DBacks slug it out in the WC game.

I'm not going to predict playoff results, but the Braves are set up well to handle a lot of LH SPs...

I am a nega for life!
I just think the Braves have some players who you can reasonably expect to get production out of. Freeman and Nick are performers and the Braves will ride them for the next six weeks. Phillies lineup is very streaky and I think the pitching is close to equal. Braves can win the east, but I expect it to be a close race that goes into the final week.
