I think he could end up being a latter-day Ford. Certainly more conservative in general and in particular on social issues than Ford.

But I think he could end up vindicating the strategic judgment made by social issue conservatives to support Trump. He could give them the conservative jurists without all the personal baggage.

On economic issues, I think he would pull back on the trade wars. This would not necessarily imply pulling back on a more muscular attempt to deal with China, Mexico and others on trade issues.

On foreign policy, I think Pence is a standard conservative. He would return us to the post-WWII consensus that both political parties have adhered to. Primacy would be given to NATO and other components of the post-WWII alliance system we have built up.
