I think the association between anti-psychotic pills and mass violence is more correlation than causation. But I imagine we are unlikely to conduct a double blind experiment anytime soon to find the answer.

To the best of my knowledge, the NRA’s position here is that a person can be denied purchase through a background check only if they have been formally declared incompetent or have been involuntarily committed to an institution. If this guy makes the cut under those criteria, that’s pretty troubling.

To the best of my knowledge, forced psychiatric hospitalization should definitely cause the background check to fail. I wonder if this the problem we have seen before where the information isn't being reported and there aren't consequences for it.

I think one has to do a minimum amount of days in a psychiatric hospital in order for one not to be able to purchase a weapon and this kid didn’t meet the threshold
