I mean that's stating the obvious. +8 DRS and +10.5 UZR for his career. And even with his great year a 74 WRC+ career hitter.

His season is just one of those things that unexpected playoff teams get to help them along the way.

I mention it only because multiple posters here have question me when I say he is a very good defender at short. So obvious to me and you, sure. But others here? No. But they haven't seen him as much as short as I have I suppose. I watched that series vs the Cubs last playoffs for example where he showed off his plus arm and showed great range at times too. We saw his arm on the mound here so it shouldn't be surprise he'd do well at short since he also has good range to go with it.

Culberson has almost mirrored what Gattis did for us his rookie year and that year we won the division that everyone picked the Nats too (2013).

Well those posters are likely as clueless as our manager is. At least our manager seems to change his opinions when presented with facts.

I did like that night we won despite snit's mismanaging the pen where snit admitted after the game that he mismanaged the pen. Fredi as I recall took a long time after that playoff loss to the dodgers before he would even admit he was dead wrong for not using Kimbrel. But that isnt to say snit won't do something similar in the playoffs this year.

To be fair we don't have a Craig Kimbrel in or pen. And I wouldn't necessarily trust Minter or Viz to get 4+ outs in a playoff game.

Notable fact about Phillies' loss today. Since drilling Acuna, Urena has beaten the Phillies twice and the Nationals once. Maybe he's not such a bad guy after all ...

Haha, I noticed the same but didn't mention it because of what he did to Acuna. However, as it turns out he might have did us a favor as he's finishing the season strong. Then again we have hit him harder than them all season. I think he beat Philly once back before we beat up on him too.

Btw, I watched Archer's last game vs the Brewers where they jumped on him with two homers and three runs in the first. I am still thankful we lost out on him as Gausman has been huge for us. If you replace Archer with him we don't win those games and may well of lost almost every one. Huge difference in the standings in that case. Archer doesn't go past 5 much either so hurts your pen too.

I’m a little shocked anyone on this board has to be reminded what unsustainable results look like.

i know, i wasnt suggesting snit use them that way. i only meant i could see him mismanaging the pen and possibly just as bad, just not in the same way.

Playoff pen management is different than the regular season. In a short series we should go to our studs virtually every time as long as it's not a blowout. We will clinch with roughly a week to go so they will be rested.

Obviously, but that doesn't mean snit won't still mismanage the pen. Who he picks to carry and favors for various roles will be key there too.

well...the thing that stands out is all their lefty starters...plus their own lineup has been stronger against right handed pitching...Newcomb did have the near nono against them...things to think about

I don't like that match-up for us. I'd prefer Colorado, etc.

We need to wrap this up as quickly as possible and then get Duvall some ABs. He could be an asset vs a LH heavy dodger staff
