I will say that it will never shock me if Saban goes back to the NFL. Guys like Saban can't stand failing at something. He failed in the NFL. He might blame the situation he was in, but the fact remains that he never succeeded there. So it will never shock me if his ego spurs him into heading back to the NFL.

The only thing I don’t understand is why would Saban throw away his King’s Throne in Tuscaloosa for being just another coach in the NFL.
Does he view Pete Carroll as an example of giving it another try?

Only thing I can guess is that this would be his last shot at making it work in the NFL. Who knows, may be it's his dream to coach a SB winning team. If it doesn't work out and he still wanted to coach, he would have an offer from literally every school in the nation.
I mean, ego, right? He's already accomplished about everything a coach can in the college ranks; but his legacy will always include failing in the NFL unless he gives it another go and succeeds. Maybe if he'd never gone the NFL route he could just justify staying at Alabama and making his case for greatest CFB coach of all-time. Now that he has that stink of failure, though, I'd have to think it singes his ego.

Only thing about the Giants job is, who is going to be their QB? Seems like a mess to be getting into if you are trying erase the stink of failure
Yea I'm not really speculating on whether Saban should/will take the NYG job; just thinking through why he'd desire another shot in the pro ranks.
But hey, Alabama wasn't in a good way when he stepped in there. An offer from NYG might be more contingent on a multi-year commitment to him and his process, versus the roster right now.

Bama's only loss was on the road at Auburn. That's comparable to the Oklahoma loss. If that was OSUs only loss, they go to playoffs.
The problem is they lost to Iowa, badly. That's a really, really bad loss. It's the worst loss of any playoff contender by far.
If Bama's one loss was getting stomped by Vandy, does Bama make the playoffs?
If the Tide's one loss had been to the Commodores, tOSU would be in the playoffs even with two losses.

Sure if that’s the way they want it to be then they need to even the playing field. SEC has 8 conference games and at least one “bye week” towards the end of the season. Teams need to be punished for playing teams like Mercer, UNLV, and so on.
Instead it all comes back to SEC bias and money. The playoff is and always will be a joke.
Every big team schedules cupcake games. It's good for the big school to have a game where they can work on stuff and the small schools get much needed cash. It's how things work. Bama scheduled no more cupcake games than is usual.
Also, let's not forget that Bama played FSU in the season opener. FSU wasn't good this year but that couldn't have been known when the game was scheduled. So it's not like Bama is avoiding tough, out of conference matchups.

Near perfection for the B1G this bowl season. Perfect for me though!!!
Congrats Georgia! Hopefully Bama makes it an all SEC title game.
