MLB trade rumors had him at 3 but the guys on mlb network we’re talking back in November and most of them thought he’d get 4 years. Regardless 2 years after having a good season is low.

Maybe we trade for JTR and trade Flowers in a package for Santana of the Brewers. Brewers seem to be looking to move an OFer and also had interest in Ramos so maybe they'd have interest in Flowers too. This is from MLBTR earlier this month: "Tom Haudricourt of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel looks at potential trade pieces at the major league level for the Brewers, naming Domingo Santana, Keon Broxton and Eric Thames as possible candidates. It’s “unlikely” the Brewers will retain both Santana and Broxton, as each outfielder is out of minor league options, notes Haudricourt, who adds that Thames “could be had in the right deal.”"

While the outfield market is getting slim in FA, RP market is still fairly deep.

Kimbrel, Britton, Robertson, Allen, Miller, Ottavino, Kelley, Herrera, Soria among some others out there.

If the two of them PLUS Realmuto isn't the play, AA has seriously butchered this offseason to get his guy Donaldson.

We have some money but if we wanna splurge, we probably gotta move Julio or maybe even O'Day.

Beating 2/$32 million doesn't approach splurge-level. If there wasn't $15 million left to sign a LF, Donaldson should never have been signed.

So, here I was 2 years ago arguing that the Braves needed to maximize FF's trade value because the Braves would be unable to reach and sustain critical mass from a good team standpoint until after the majority of his useful life as a player had been engulfed by time. The thinking was that you get 2-3 more very, very good prospects PLUS free Freeman's salary for use at a time when the team could be brought and kept to a state of critical mass. My concern was that the team would develop into a team too good to break up but not good enough to really compete for anything, that holes would be present that couldn't be filled internally and would not be filled externally due to money issues.

I was told that I was FOS, that the Braves would reach into its vast array of pitching prospects and trade for whatever was needed to put them over the hump.

Well, here we are and what do we have? We have the premature ejaculation of the team into the playoff picture driving an offseason imperative of expensive age gambles looking for the fountain of youth and in the dark trade groping hoping for lightning in a bottle short term fixes like JTR aligned with the conclusion of FF's contract, all while trying to avoid the clap while shopping the seedy red light district of late winter free agency.

    That's where we are.

The Brantley signing sure as *ell didn't help with the asking price. Whatever they were asking for before tonight just went up substantially.

    So did a Gray/Frazier price.

Maybe AA should listen to offers on Acuna since his value won't get higher.

This has much less to do with not trading Freeman a couple years ago than it does with trying to be the smartest guy in the room and waiting for the "steals" you think are coming. Not beating the Phillies' offer to McCutchen is somewhat understandable. but not adding a third guaranteed year at $16 million if that was all it would have taken to get Brantley screams that you screwed up.

If I were Pollock's agent, my 5/$80 million ask just became written in stone.

Brantley sure did come down on his asking price - wasn't he originally wanting 3/60?

Huh. You know Acuna value is more valuable to us than JT is to Miami. You know the difference right. That statement was weird.

Whenever he says something stupid he just doubles down on it with something even dumber and with more conviction. He thinks if he writes a long enough post and puts just the right words in all caps or quotes he will eventually be right.

The dumbest people tend to be the most confident in their assertions because they are too stupid to realize they’re stupid.

Could the Braves and Astros be lining up for a Tucker for pitching swap? Or is Tucker going to the Indians for Bauer/Kluber?

Yeah couldn't be that we offered Brantley more and he just doesn't want to come here right? It's free agency clv... the player chooses... not the team. You have no idea what was or was not offered. Everyone get your panties out of a wad... two free agents have been signed in the OF... better OFers could be available in trade. I'm glad AA isn't as impatient as half of you if he's confident he can get one, giving him more flexibility payroll wise to improve the team even more. My 5 year old understands that just because he has a $5 bill he doesn't have to spend it now. Every team starts the season at the same time... because of social media it seems like it's late but it's still pretty early in the off season

No one knows what his original asking price was... it's all smoke and mirrors... misinformation thrown around to influence decisions. How do actual baseball fans not realize this simple fact. There isn't one magical number that works... he probably accepted less to go to one of the obvious best teams in the majors and didn't have to switch leagues

What would that look like? Something like Wright and Touki?
