I’d hate to trade one of Anderson, Wright, Touki, or Soroka but I know it has to happen at some point. Realmuto is a very strong target at a position of need so I hope it happens. Then we’d just need to get a legit COF and the offense is set and ready to go.
I'm thinking he's not backing down from his sources.
Let's say we are serious about realmuto... I think that means we're gonna be a player on Donaldson. I think realmuto would cost Riley and pitching. Money we save on catcher, I think we throw at Donaldson. Obviously this is unscientific
Has there EVER been a statement and question a certain someone should absolutely never have made and asked publicly more than...
Kinda pathetic to see yourself as a message board knight in shining armor. How impotent does someone have to be in real life to resort to playing hero on a message board?

The rumor that has former #Indians OF Michael Brantley going to the #Braves with a three year contract certainly makes sense. Losing Brantley has increased the pressure for Cleveland to shore up a weak hitting outfield. Do they trade a pitcher to get it done?
Trading prospect capital for a catcher is a mistake
Brantley is still my pick if we're going the FA route for a corner OF. Starting the lineup with Brantley-Acuna-Freeman-Realmuto could be interesting.
Sign me up for Brantley and Donaldson at 3B. Still a pass on JT Realmuto.
With Wilson Ramos, Grandal, McCann, Zunino and even Evan Gattis available theres alot of options for a C to share time with Flowers.
It's actually very logical. If Riley isn't in the long term picture (I've never been super high on him), and Camargo is viewed as a utility piece, buying the decline years of Donaldson makes perfect sense. I've suggested for months that AA signing Donaldson makes all the sense in the world, but only if Riley is out of the picture.
Now, whether or not Realmuto makes sense is certainly one for debate. I could buy the argument that the Marlins are so dumb they don't even know what pitch framing is, therefore Realmuto has never been exposed to the benefits of it, and is bad at it because he has never been coached to focus on it. Under such a scenario, it's plausible he transforms into an average or better pitch framer over the course of a few months.
Pure speculation, of course.
I’ve warmed up to Brantley. If we can get Realmuto and Brantley then I’d make Carmago the super sub and main bench piece and bring in Donaldson for 1 year with an option. That lineup would be insane.
Brantley is likely the best non-QO cOF available, so he makes sense, and has made sense since I brought him up months ago.
I would consider him the lowest quality cOF that's acceptable.
Pairing Brantley with Freeman means the Braves likely need to pursue another impact RHH, whether that be someone like Donaldson or Realmuto...perhaps Grandal counts. They will also need a RHH 4th OFer to supplement Inciarte and Brantley...though that could be Duval's role to start the season.

AA did say in an interview that he views the current infield as set. Meaning no Josh Donaldson....
We'll see if that is true or posturing for better negotiating spot. He does seem to focus on that quite a bit.

Get off my lawn!
Trade for Realmuto ($6.1M at a cost of a position player/pitcher combo)
Sign Donaldson for 1/20 (or 3/60 per FG)
Sign Brantley for 3/45
# Pos Player 2019 Salary
1 C Realmuto $6.10
2 1B Freeman $21.00
3 2B Albies $0.55
4 3B Donaldson $20.00
5 SS Swanson $0.55
6 LF Acuna $0.55
7 CF Inciarte $5.00
8 RF Brantley $15.00
9 SP1 Teheran $11.00
10 SP2 Folty $5.50
11 SP3 Gausman $9.20
12 SP4 Newk $0.55
13 SP5 Touki $0.55
14 BN1 Culberson $1.40
15 BN2 Duvall $3.10
16 BN3 Camargo $0.55
17 BN4 Backup OF $0.00
18 BN5 Flowers $4.00
19 BP1 O'Day $8.00
20 BP2 Viz $4.80
21 BP3 Freeman $1.50
22 BP4 Venters $1.50
23 BP5 Minter $0.55
24 BP6 Winkler $1.60
25 BP7 Fried $0.55
Total $123.10
It certainly works from a total payroll perspective, and all that's left is a single bench spot.
Is it a good idea to bring in a poor pitch framer and 2 declining hitters with recent injury woes? Probably not...
