I dont know what a trade package would look like for Haniger but it would cost a lot. Only players i'd hold onto are one of Waters/Pache, i dont think both will be on the Braves by 2020, and i wouldnt trade Contreras. He's like our only catcher prospect worth a damn right now.

I'd offer something like Riley, one of Soroka/Wright/Anderson/Touki, Wiegel and Muller/Wentz. Probably too much but gotta give something up. Two of Wright/Soroka/Touki/Anderson with Riley would be tough on AA. But we do have two first round picks to use, including a top 10 pick so there's some offsetting there. Assuming we can actually sign them this time around.
I'm ok giving to get. But we still need to value what we are getting realistically.

Why? Segura is 28 and not cheap. A better hittee yes, but not significantly.

He's hit over .300 the last 3 years, and a near 4 WAR the last three years. He would without a doubt be a big upgrade over Dansby offensively, yes he's not as good on defense but a way better bat.

Greinke is owed 3/103 and is projected to produce 8-9 wins over those 3 seasons. That's a negative surplus value of ~$20M.

Peralta will be paid ~$20M over the next 2 years and is projected for around 5 wins. That's a positive surplus value of ~$30M.

The total surplus value of the Peralta/Greinke duo is a very affordable ~$10M in terms of prospect capital.

We know the Braves can't take on $40M in 2019. The Braves can probably afford something in the neighborhood of $20M more in 2019, which means the DBacks would have to kick in ~$60M to make this deal fit into the Braves payroll.

The total surplus value after the DBacks kick in that cash comes out to about $70M. You can piece together a reasonable $70M package by referencing this value table:

    https://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/an-u...ect-valuation/

They may also value Newk and/or Fried as assets in the $20M-$30M range.

After such a deal shakes out, the Braves would have Peralta for 2/20, and Greinke for 3/40. I don't think either guy represents enough of an upgrade to warrant such a risky deal, but that's approximately how it would have to work out for the Braves.

Well the year before last was fantastic as well... and the 3 minor league seasons before that were also fantastic with all the right peripherals. Don't see how last year is a fluke with all the other evidence, especially since he basically already did it the year before. I'd trade a haul for him

Corbin about to sign for 6 years with...someone.

Someone who’s about to have regrets in 2-3 years.

    I’m going to guess...Phillies

They said NYY wouldn't go more than 5 years, meaning they're likely out. Most likely Philly.

I guess the Phillies will just have the Ms bail them out of this terrible contract as well.

I’ll say 6/130 to just beat the Darvish mistake from last offseason.

WAS, PHI, and NYM are gonna be big spenders no matter what. The best we can hope for is they spend their money acquiring risky long-term contracts like Cano and Corbin. I'm happy to see them drive hard to win the offseason.

At this rate, I'm not sure the Braves will be favorites for top two in the division.

Maybe our division opponents will regret this in three years, but they can make it super hard on the Braves in 2019 and 2020.

Just gotta hope our young pitching progresses. Need someone else to bust out like folty did last season. We could possibly have the 3 best hitters in the east (Acuna, FF, and Donaldson) if Harper leaves.
