Decrease years of control so Albies and acuna aren’t tempted into signing early extensions.

Find something so you don’t end up like the nba with all of the money going to 25 percent of the roster and everyone else is close to the minimum
The union as a whole only cares about the players as a group getting their fair share of overall revenues. Since teams are no longer paying for veteran players in favor of paying younger players, the union must force teams to pay more for younger players.

Quite a few agents have already alluded to this, so I would expect players to demand it.

I doubt owners will give up any control over players, but they may have to change the date players qualify for a full year of survice time. Increasing the minimum salary will already be a pretty big concession on the part of owners.

This likely ends up as a sneaky great move that makes them MUCH better, allowing them to use Lagares strictly as a defensive replacement. One less suitor for Pollock, but there's a long way for his market to disappear before he becomes the type of bargain that has to come out of nowhere to get AA to sign someone while the other teams in our division continue to get better each week.

Being patient and looking for those bargains is great until all the decent options are gone - when someone steps up (Philly) and pays Pollock anything close to what he's worth, AA is going to be left with the choice of Markakis/Cargo or grossly overpaying in a trade because the other teams realize he doesn't want either of those guys (no matter how many times he tells the local scribes that that will be just great). If Miami really does want Riley and a top-tier arm PLUS from us in return for Realmuto, they'd be nuts for coming off their asking price at this point - it sure doesn't look like AA has the money to add both he AND Pollock, so if Markakis or Cargo is going to be logging time in our OF Realmuto's the only upgrade left.

The Gnats and Mutts have gotten markedly better this winter while the Phillies arguably have improved far more than we have by replacing Markakis and Suzuki with Donaldson and Mac. Even if neither Harper or Machado are willing to take Philly's "crazy money", Philadelphia could easily make us the 4th best team in the division if they sign Keuchel and Pollock - and would apparently still have plenty left to spend.
Has there EVER been a statement and question a certain someone should absolutely never have made and asked publicly more than...

Kinda pathetic to see yourself as a message board knight in shining armor. How impotent does someone have to be in real life to resort to playing hero on a message board?

He’d be the LH bat we can pair with the RH options in LF and he could also be an option to play some 3B this year and the next 2 years if/when Donaldson moves on.
Still can't see them giving up Shaw unless somebody seriously overpays. The addition of Gamel ought to make Thames imminently more available though.

Apparently the Braves are trying to make Pache available in trades. I'm not a huge fan of that, but I can see the logic behind it if it brought back a good controllable piece.

I saw this. It tells me they’re pretty damn serious about adding.

Big fan of Pache, so I believe IF this is true, AA will shoot for the moon in a trade.

I don’t wanna see Pache traded unless it involves Haniger.

I don’t know much about the players in that deal but why is Broxton good?

Seems like an athlete who isn’t that good at baseball from the quick google search I did.

Seems like that should be an easy thing to do. Just tell teams he's available.

    But they aren’t dealing him.

I was broadening it out from one guy.

I still think aa is going to do a surprise deal

I wasn’t predicting what would happen. Just what I think the union should look at.

I don’t get why a union would be ok with a handful of guys getting all of the money. But I’m not in a union.

Yeah I'm sure it'd be for a legit return - Haniger, JTR, etc

He’s not that good, which is why he was traded for nothing of note. Consider how dumb the guy is who called the acquisition “likely ends up as a sneaky great move that makes them MUCH better”...literally the dumbest poster here.

Broxton is a tools guy everyone keeps waiting to put it all together. The Brewers decided to stop waiting and flipped him for peanuts.

10% is wayyyyy too high. I think its a very very very remote possibility. I'd say around 1%. It could happen, but it would take an extraordinary scenario for that to happen.

We should sign Harper for the simple fact that he's likely to opt out in 2-3 years anyways. So he likely won't affect our ability to re-sign Acuna/Albies when the time comes.

But we won't. I'd give it a 1% chance of happening.
