In Bowman's latest mailbag he mentions Markakis, Cutch and CarGo as possible FAs. He also says Haniger would be a perfect fit, but the Ms aren't looking to deal him. No mention of Brantley.

Please tell me we won't be stuck watching a CarGo/Duvall platoon in LF next year...

They spent $23M on 3B when they have Camargo sitting there for free.

They have been tied to SPs and BP arms all off season despite having the largest collection of young pitching talent in the game.

They are tied to Realmuto after already piecing together a decent platoon at catcher.

All the while there is this gaping hole in LF, and the rumors of guys like Markakis and CarGo teaming up with Duvall as the most likely solution.

This is not shaking out as the best use of resources...it's like a guy with a car that works buying a Telsa and then fixing the hole in his roof by laying a tarp over it.

Bowman has been wrong about the moves AA would make a lot since he took over. So I am hoping he is wrong yet again and I agree Cargo/Markakis would be disappointing. We need to do better as the NL East is improving. Phillies made a big trade and have money to do more, Mets got better short term (and worse long-term) and are looking at Pollock while the Nats pitching is improved by adding Corbin (though I don't like that signing for them long-term).

AA works pretty quietly so who knows who he is targeting but if it's a platoon in the outfield, i'm not sure how much better the offense is.

true, this is why Bowman has been wrong a lot with him so far. He usually doesn't leak his plans till already done.

I’d be perfectly fine getting Realmuto if we intend on signing Cutch. But if it means bringing back Markakis then no thanks. Isn’t Fish stripes the one who broke the Yelich and Ozuna trades? They are usually pretty spot on with Marlins stuff so there is probably a lot of truth to what they are saying.

Realmuto, if it was Riley, one of Allard/Gohara/Wilson and a Muller/Wiegel/Wentz type, i'd do that. If thats true, but also seems the Mets really want JTR.

Assuming fhe cost is similar, which would rather have?

Realmuto & Cutch or Haniger & Happ (or FA SP)

    Acuna
    Donaldson
    Freeman
    Realmuto
    Cutch
    Albies
    Inciarte
    Swanson

That would be legit and scary for any team.

I could see AA doing a trade like that and trading Newcomb to Arizona for Peralta. That would give us a line-up of Acuna-Donaldson-Freeman-Realmuto-Peralta at the top. That's strong!

Yeah I didn't have a huge problem with the Crawford portion of the deal. It was the rest of it that was baffling to me.

This was 5 days before Donaldson signed. No one knows what AA is doing until it's announced. Just a wait and guess game.

Also- this guy with the fish is just tripling down we are all over JT. I guess things opened back up when he turned down an extension? Still nothing from the Braves side though

I guess it depends on what we think Riley’s value is at this point. Say it’s Riley and two lesser prospects for Realmuto. If the FO isn’t high on Riley, I think they make that deal regardless of the OF situation. Realmuto is a clear upgrade over Flowers and McCann, and we have other ways of obtaining a Corner OF, not to mention that Camargo could feasibly get some time in LF.

FOs know better than ever what wins baseball games, and they are adjusting accordingly. There's a reason we've heard numerous stories about guys increasing their launch angle for more success, and zero stories of guys decreasing their launch angle for more success. I have literally never seen a story that says a guy decided to hit more grounders and his career took off.
