They shouldn’t make anything close to what they make.
I mean I don't think Shroud should be making over a million a year playing games on Twitch but it happens. Those in the top 1% of their industry that are entertainers are going to get paid. It's just how it is.

And I'd much rather the players get a big piece of the pie like they are now instead of it just lining the pockets of the owners.

Looks to me like the Braves have to re engage the Marlins. MIA is getting calls. They are listening.
If the Braves and Marlins aren’t going to talk they can’t do a deal. Simple. (AA needs to call and engage it sounds like ugh not good)

still poor defense, too. improved, yes. but improving from all-time bad isn't a big accomplishment.
and still no pitching depth, and still not a single lefty starter worth a damn.
i think the organic improvement from the braves young guys will overcome that.

So we won't know if we are still in the JTR auction until Spring training?

It's certainly better and assuming he goes there, there will be a ton of hype. But to this point, they havent done much to improve their rotation which declined in the 2nd half of the year. I suppose they could go for Keuchel or someone else, but as it is now, they're a little better than last year.

The defense would be improved, but not by eons.

They may have gotten 3 wins out of moving Hoskins out of LF alone.

With Harper, I'd guess they would have added nearly 10 wins this offseason.

I had some calculation on that somewhere in this thread, but not gonna find it or re-do it.

They'd feel like the better roster, but the Braves have a more pitching depth.

TODAY: Whatever progress was made has clearly not yet resulted in a deal. It’s not just that the Marlins want to wait to see if other clubs will increase their offers. Rather, per Heyman (via Twitter), the Fish and the Reds are “still apart on prospects,” with other clubs also still engaged with the Cincinnati organization.

you think Hoskins will be a 6-win 1B? he's still not good defensively, even there. unless i'm reading that wrong.
due to poor drafting&developing, they'll still have a team devoid of depth - especially in the pitching department. they'd need to sign a few more guys at least. they'll be improved on paper, but then i think their starters over-performed for a long time last season and i just don't think it will happen again.

Translation, our bluff hasn’t encouraged the Braves to up their offer so we’re going to continue to wait on them by saying other clubs are still engaged. It’s amateur hour down in Miami.

I don't think the Braves have even made an offer. Marlins using Mish to fabricate this.

Maybe... Hoskins has a small sample at 1B, but comes out largely average there, all things considered. You give him back the 1.8 wins that he lost by playing LF, and he's at 4.7 wins, which isn't so far off from 6 for a 25 year old.

It's probably more like 2.5 wins in left than 3 wins.

maybe not formal, but they know what we have on the table I bet. I'd bet its still the best package, and the Cincy talk of one of their big three or four guys was designed as a shot in the arm to talks with us most likely.

I can't see Cincinnati (why is that so hard for me to spell) trading Senzel.
