Of course...as we are constructed now.

You would either need a Pache to make a big jump or sign someone. I wasn’t talking about before this season starts (unless we were to sign Harper). My thought process was making the trade probably by next offseason or even at the deadline if another outfielder was available.

I just think we line up really well with Cleveland because they want to win now, while cutting payroll. We have the players to make that trade. I thought we were going to make a move to sign or trade for a right fielder, so The loss of Ender wouldn’t be that big of a deal. Obviously that has changed at least for now.

Didn't he tweak something in the offseason, like working more on his change? Would be pretty obvious as a guy who predominately throws FB, CH, CU to want to improve the change as his fastball is his best pitch. Seems like teams figured out what he was doing and adjusted, then returned to hitting batting practice off him in the 2nd half.

Newk throws more non-competitive pitches than anyone I've ever seen. He'll have a great pitch, followed by what you just described. Up and out, especially to righties.

Have been saying this for over a month now but I think we are done. Would love to be wrong but every day that goes by makes me feel stronger that I’m not

I'm going to be pretty dissapointed if we don't even add a late inning arm. We don't have a bad pen per say, but we have a lot of question marks and injury concerns out there.

We could easily consolidate some of those arms for an upgrade.

I don't quite understand why the Braves have been AWOL in the reporting on cheaper tier of leverage relievers. Some very reasonable, short term commitments have been made.

Mostly find the Braves offseason confusing at this point. Not bad, just confusing.

Good extension by the Phillies to lock him up through his 20s with the last year being an option.

After deftly dealing with their previous Santana snafu, hey have had a good offseason, and will still likely add 2 of Harper, Machado, Keuchel and/or Kimbrel.

The Braves have had the players to make every trade that has happened this off season, and haven't pulled the trigger. Hard to imagine them doing something drastic now.

The Indians have cut all the payroll they need to cut. It is unlikely they deal a SP anymore.

I think we are done. We are better than last year. Problem is our division is much better too.
The good news is the Mets and Phils and Nats all have to play each other a ton. The bad news is we have to play them all a ton too.

The disappointing part is an opening day payroll with no noticeable bump in 2019 after winning the division in 2019.

If there isn't money now, when will there be money?

At this point the nationals and Phillies are better than us and you could argue the Mets are as well

Nats are unquestionably better, but the Braves/Mets/Phillies all project in the mid-80s. That will likely change once the Phillies make 1-2 major FA acquisitions and move ahead of the Braves on paper though.

The difference between a young 85 win team like the Braves and a veteran 85 win team like the Mets is the young team is much more likely to beat projections.

Despite the disappointing off season, it's still important to realize the Braves are a legit play off contender with lots of powder dry for future additions.

Man that Nola extension might have been the best move anyone made all offseason. Right up there with being able to completely dump Santana and get Segura for a ****ty shortstop prospect

There some factors that don’t come into play when talking about the additions to our team. Of course, this is all assuming no injuries. We will have Acuna, Duval, Gausman, O’Day, Viz, Swanson, Soroka, Gohara all year. Did I miss anybody? Also, Minter with a year under his belt. Add to this Donaldson and McCann, obviously. In other words, we aren’t the same team as last year. I think we will be better.

I know you said assuming no injuries, however, over a 162 game season, there are bound to be injuries...

Donaldson and McCann are obvious candidates to be injured at some point this season for obvious reasons. Swanson coming off wrist surgery is worth being worried about. Soroka with his shoulder issues, will he be healthy for a full season workload? Minter hurt his back around August last year, is that a fluke or will it be a trend? O'Day coming off major hamstring injury, according to reports, should be better than before.

It would take A LOT going right for us to repeat IMO, just like it took a lot for us to win the division last season.

The Phillies have vastly improved their team IMO. With the upgrades they have made so far, not even taking into account what additions they still may make, I believe they are a far better team. Last year they hung around until the last 6 weeks or so of the season. They were desperately flawed in their construction. However, they have corrected those flaws and then some.

It's a good deal. He traded security for maximum profits. Not a bad idea for a pitcher.

The faillies had a pretty good ‘everything goes right’ kind of year last year and still finished third. They have improved their team but are moving away from the young core. They got rid of the SS. Catcher and soon RF. Their pitching is super thin and will probably prevent them from taking the next step. I don’t see DK being enough to bridge that. I could be wrong.
