The Nationals seem to veer wildly between reckless spending and penny-pinching miserliness.

Since the Nationals were over the luxury tax, apparently they are losing their 2nd and 5th pick in the draft for signing Corbin. They could recoup some of that if Harper signs with someone else. They would get a 4th rounder.

There was a tweet saying they could sign him under the right circumstances but im not sure they could go for 400/500 million to him.

Rosenthal- #Marlins want at least one controllable major-league asset as centerpiece for Realmuto. #Mets have Conforto/Nimmo/Rosario, but would need to replace whoever they traded in FA market or other deals. Teams engaged. NYM aggressive.

Dealing Soroka and Riley for JT would be monumentally stupid. The only pitcher on the roster aside of Folty that I wouldn’t deal is Soroka.

The Mets are in a place where I’m sure they’d overpay for Realmuto. He’d be a great addition for them and make me think a lot harder about their chances.

Heyman: Marlins heard from 14 teams regarding star C JT Realmuto this winter, including 3 in division (all but Nats, who tried hardest last year). From Mets, top 2 targets would be Brandon Nimmo and Amed Rosario. Braves less likely since have Flowers/McCann, r targeting an OF, pitchers.

Jeter is so dumb. But no longer calling him the dumbest. Dumbpoto is now.

I could see us going after JT still. I’d tell them though if we give up Soroka and Riley that you’re taking Teheran and Flowers both back too. They would probably have interest in Flowers.

I like Corbin, but would not have signed him for what the Gnats did. Yeesh

    Agree

That’s the type of deal that triggers coppy to acquire 5 more pitchers.

We need another impact bat that can defend his position.

I think we need more offense and relief help. If we really improve there, I can live with the starting pitching. I am also assuming that Teheran is in the pen and not starting. Nothing wrong with Folty, Newcomb, Gausman, Soroka and Touki.

Not sure there is a team Julio helps out of the pen unless you're using an Opener to get you through the first 4-5 hitters the first time around.
Has there EVER been a statement and question a certain someone should absolutely never have made and asked publicly more than...

Kinda pathetic to see yourself as a message board knight in shining armor. How impotent does someone have to be in real life to resort to playing hero on a message board?

If Soroka/Riley really is the ask for Realmuto and AA is even thinking about going there, he just needs to swallow hard and pay whatever it takes to get Haniger.

I wouldn't personally include the two of them in a trade for any single player with less than 4 years of control, and even Haniger's probably pushing it. If the two of them and a couple more pieces would have gotten you Haniger and Diaz, I'd have looked real hard at it but that's SERIOUS upside you're giving away, and Realmuto by himself sure as *ell doesn't get close to there for me.

I was curious how Corbin was able to increase his K rate so dramatically. Looks like he added a slow curve this past season and his slider seemed to be unusually effective. Not sure if they two are related but those were to the two main changes I noticed. It will be curious to see if the k rate sticks.
    thank you weso1!

Eff that. Get Haniger. Let some other East team overpay for a catcher with 2 years control.

Bowden: #Mets are pushing hard for #Marlins Realmuto but package will be much stronger than just Nimmo according to sources on both sides
