I like Morton too as long as it's a two-year deal. It sounds like he's very focused on being close to his wife's family in Delaware though, so guessing he's not gonna be an option. Happ still still seems like be best FA option, but the offer we supposedly made today was probably dead on arrival since it surely was not 3 years.

Gallo or Mazara would be ok targets if the price is low. Not too excited about either one, but I suppose they'd be upgrades over Neck.

Edit: actually I didn't realize how bad Mazara was on defense. Given his offense is barely league average, I'd have to pass on Mazara.

Here’s a what if for the board.
If the Cubs are really in on Harper but are tight on money what would a Jason Heyward to the Braves trade look like? I think it would have to start with the Cubs eating about sixty percent of his salary. I know his hitting sucks but he would give the Braves the best defensive outfield in baseball.

I doubt either is available but Haniger and Bellinger would be a top my wish list. Let’s just roll with what we have at C and get a young super stud COF.

Just by curiosity if Cincinnati call about Ender what you think they are willing to give for him? Hunter Greene or Nick Senzel?

Can we please stop with the bring Heyward back non sense? The dude is garbage and is in a terrible terrible contract.

Rosenthal keeps mentioning that the Reds are being extremely aggressive on several fronts.

Still really hard to imagine them parting with Senzel, but if they REALLY like Ender and you could package him and a second-tier arm for him, you could slide Acuna over to CF and flank him with Senzel and a 1-year signing like CarGo or Markakis and then move Acuna back to a corner next year if/when Pache's ready.
Has there EVER been a statement and question a certain someone should absolutely never have made and asked publicly more than...

Kinda pathetic to see yourself as a message board knight in shining armor. How impotent does someone have to be in real life to resort to playing hero on a message board?

If they offered Senzel I'd say yes yesterday

I would love Gallo. He's projected for a 3.5 win season, he'll hit 40+ homers, his defense is passable, he's got 4 years of control left, and he's financially pretty cheap... I think he'd be a reasonable target for us. The whole idea of him being a "rally killer" is pretty archaic thinking.

Heyward has perhaps the worst contract in baseball, hell no.

Saying that a guy who will strike out over 200 times in a season won't be a rally killer is falty thinking...how many times do you see a strike out completely change a situation where you had a runner on and less than 2 outs...

Our team had a lot of speed last year and made contact....that's what helped our offense be successful throughout the year.

    I'm 100% out on Gallo.

If we’re talking with the Rangers I’d guess Leclerc would be our target... maybe Profar

Per DoB: "Anthopoulos said #Braves have talked to lot of agents but don't have any offers out to any players. “I wouldn’t expect by the time that we leave the meetings that we’ll have anything done for a starter or reliever, as we sit here today. You guys know that that can change fast.""

#Braves' Anthopoulos added, “Postion player-wise, I’d say the same thing. I think we have a better handle on certain guys, but I’d say probably similar (to pitchers), we’re not close (to doing a deal) right now.”

Over 90% of the time, a strikeout is no worse than a regular out. In fact, sometimes you would rather have a strikeout than something like a ground out. This idea that strikeouts are some awful thing that should be avoided as opposed to other outs is archaic.
