Didn't mention that Corbin met with Nats, Yanks and Phiiiies today.

It's still easy to think of him as Madison Bumgarner, Destroyer of Worlds. His best moments all took place under the brightest lights, while his decline has happened in obscurity. People hear the name and immediately conjure images of the guy who pretty much single-handedly beat the Royals, not the injured guy who hasn't done anything particularly impressive for two years.

Not happening. I wonder why no Ender? Money? I could go Ender/Gohara/Wright for Kluber or.....Pache/Wright/Touki/Swanson/another prospect for Kluber and Lindor. Who’s in? 😂😂

It would cost all three, or it one of those would be the centerpiece?

I personally wouldn't even do 2 of those guys for Kluber. I know he's a legit ace, but the man will be 33 in April. If I'm giving up that sort of package, I'd rather go after Thor. Surely a package of that caliber has to start the conversation for Thor.

A deal for a “frontline starter” has to include the other team overvaluing an MLB ready SP like Newk or Fried, otherwise the value isn’t there for the Braves.

No. I’m not. Folty’s only real issue is that he is too emotional. Go look at his walk rate stats and compare them to Newk/Fried. I like Folty a lot, regardless of his poor postseason. He’s a late bloomer like Max Scherzer. He’s going to be the one thing Coppy got right.

Newk and Fried have high walk rates because they don’t have command of their fastball. Plain and simple. Newk throws so many uncompetitive pitches that it makes him hard to watch.

Fried, Inciarte, Wilson and Allard enough to get one of the Indians SPs?

    Jason Martinez

Yep. That should do it. Maybe even more than enough

    From MLBTradeRumors

If this is enough to get Kluber or Carrasco I'd pull the trigger and wouldn't think twice.

Newk commands his fastball fine for the most part. The issue is his secondary offerings aren't that great and he likes to nibble instead of throwing strikes and allowing the defense behind him to make a play. That's why I like Bryce Wilson so much. He doesn't have the pure stuff of several of the prospects ahead of him, but he throws strikes and attacks hitters.

Trading Ender right now would be a mistake, in my opinion.

Sort of liberal use of the numeral 2 as a framing device, but I dig it.

I got Madison as a 3 win player with a strong chance of outperforming that. I got him acquirable for a modest prospect.

It think that's a significant upgrade.

I don't think his salary will derail the Braves from addressing their other needs.

...But hell, I'm not the guy's agent or anything. I don't much care one way or the other, though I think its pretty obvious the Braves do not have very dependable pitching.

If that would get Kluber, It would already be done...
    Sign Brantley
Trade Jenista/Ynoa for Rosario (or the like)
    Get a bench bat
    And play ball

Brantley, Acuna, Freeman, JD, Rosario, Albies, Flowers, Dansby
    Kluber, Folty, Gausman, Newk, (Soroka/Gohara/Touki/Wright)

    That could win the NL

Starting rotation 4th in the MLB in ERA.

Jenista and Ynoa wouldn't even start the conversation for Rosario. He'd on par with Haniger in terms of expensive.

You’re right it’s not close to enough, but with a lesser bat, one year less of control, and worse defense I’d think he’d cost a good bit less.

They are both controlled through 2022 and I think their defense is pretty close, but Haniger definitely has the better bat.

I was a big advocate of Rosario earlier this year, but the more I look into him the more I think it'd be a mistake. His predictive metrics do not look great. He had a .297 xwOBA to a .340 wOBA. He has been a guy that has consistently outperformed his xwOBA significantly, but I'd still be kind of shaky about spending a ton on him. This is one of those situations where I think I'll admit that I was probably wrong in advocating for a Rosario trade after looking into it more.

I still don't get the fascination with dumping one of our starting position players. If we trade a guy like Ender for Kluber, we add 10 million dollars more to the payroll while also creating another hole to fill on the offense. I don't think we can afford to take on 10 million dollars and then go out and somehow get TWO outfielders.

Oh I had thought he only had three years of control. Hadn’t noticed that discrepancy in xwOBA, I’ve also believed him to be a good target

The Braves aren’t trading Ender Inciarte.

Come on guys, Jesus. Use your brains.
