M's wanna shed payroll, so i think we'd have to take on another salary with Haniger.
But Haniger alone would cost i think one of Riley/Pache/Waters, one of Touki/Anderson/Wright/Soroka, and a couple lesser prospects i think. But after the trade for Segura, i dont even know anymore.
Anyone think AA is hesitant to make big trades because of the Thor trade and how bad he left the Toronto system when he left due to the Tulo/Price, other trades. Just a thought.
IDK. Fangraphs has Gorman rated as a prospect value of $21M
If you sell Santana as a 2 WAR guy and STL agrees (not a given, his WAR has bounced around some from a high of 4,3 to a low of 1) and you figure $9M per WAR then 9x4=$36M-$14M = $22M so pretty even if you value it that way.
I personally think Gorman is a potential star and would rate him much higher than where FG has him, but heh...

explains a little why segura's value was suppressed. makes some sense. i didn't realize he had attitude issues other places, and when you look at it, few teams needed a SS.

Hypothetical trade....would you do this....
Braves get Grienke and Peralta
DBacks get Teheran, O’Day, Gohara and Bruce Sutter’s remaining salary.
Tweak this.
Dodgers apparently going after Harper, oh man.
Greinke is 35 years old and his contract runs through his Age 37 season. I don't think he's an ace and he's owed 30 million a year for the next three seasons.
Peralta is not near good enough to make eating Greinke's contract worth giving much thought to.
Even if the D-Back took on half of Grienke's salary, I would not think it would be a good move and that would still probably about blow all of the Braves payroll room this year.

I've been impressed with Anthropoulos thus far, but your post is what scares the liver out of me about him. Given the international signing restrictions, I think he has to be extremely careful about how he views deals involving prospects. Things could get pretty thin pretty fast.
It's also why i dont see us in on QO guys, we need all our draft picks given the international limitations.
Our farm is good, but the depth after the top 12 or so is very, very thin. I do think we'll make some trades but given what happened in Toronto and learning what LA does, i think he'll be smart in trades. But we'll see. Braves window wont last forever though.
