    Top FA pitchers rated

in an interesting article from MLBTR.

Sanchez is listed in several categories.

From MLBTR--- Read the whole article to find all the Individual stats ranked.

Following the method MLBTR’s Steve Adams came up with last year, here are the top free agents-to-be with respect to velocity, missing bats, limiting walks and inducing weak contact. The list includes Kershaw and fellow likely free agents in Martin Perez, Matt Moore, Doug Fister and James Shields – all four of whom have team options for 2019 that are expected to be declined. It also features several hurlers who pitched out of their teams’ bullpens in 2018, but the numbers they compiled in relief aren’t factored in here. (Special thanks to FanGraphs for providing such valuable, easily accessible information.)

I'd love to keep Sanchez, especially since he seems like a great mentor. Unfortunately Teheran is going to have to be moved for us to keep him I believe. We've got so many young guys who deserve a shot.

Sanchez has said that he'd agree to a 1 year deal to remain with the Braves.

Really? I hadn't seen that. I know everyone is into stats and analytics, I am too. But the way he's gone out of his way to be a mentor to our younger pitchers you can't put a price tag on. There's something to be said about having leadership in the clubhouse.

MLBTR has added it's Top 10 relievers to the Starters list. Moylan made the list for his ground ball rate.

I expect us to re-sign Sanchez. Would make it easier to trade one of Newcomb, Teheran or Gausman this off-season.

    They are not trading Gausman...

Good lord if we trade one of those three I hope it is Teheran. I believe in Gausman's stability and Newcomb's upside far more than Julio's.

I'd be ok with trading Newk or Julio, but not Gausman.

What type of market would there even be for Teheran though? Would we need to eat salary?

Hadn't seen that either, but if he will that's bound to signal the end of the line for Newk or Julio. I personally don't see Gausman being dealt either. Pretty sure we've seen the writing on the wall considering they've avoided letting Julio face-off against the Dodgers at all costs. I understand how well they handle righties, but I don't think Newk's performance last night surprised anyone here, and I think Julio's experience would be a better gamble than counting on Newk's control at this point.
Has there EVER been a statement and question a certain someone should absolutely never have made and asked publicly more than...

Kinda pathetic to see yourself as a message board knight in shining armor. How impotent does someone have to be in real life to resort to playing hero on a message board?

Probably not if you don't expect much in return and are just looking to clear a rotation spot. Trade him for a couple lower-level wildcards, and somebody's probably willing to take his money.

It was in a tweet from DOB. I've gone back but can't find it now. Will continue looking.

JT had a nice enough season and is on a cheap enough deal that he shouldn't be too hard to move, even in what is expected to be a quality market for SP. I think teams will value his durability and overall good quality of work.

The other thing about Julio is he's a quality teammate and presence in the clubhouse. Not that this would be the deciding factor, but little things like that add to the overall value.

11 million for 1 year plus the upside of an option with only a 1 million buyout. Yeah there will be takers if we are giving Julio away. Much rather Anibal than Teheran.

I dont think it will take that much to bring back Anibal...maybe half of your number

Bears repeating, but Teheran isn't that cheap and his season wasn't that great even though he was incredibly fortunate in his batted ball results.

It looks like he is a near 5.00 FIP guy now and even if he continues the career trend of outperforming his peripherals you're talking about a very backend rotation piece at best with evidently some kind of arm issue given his fluctuating velocities.

Braves are best suited parting ways, but the front office has been known not to send money to get rid of guys and that's going to make it difficult. Maybe they could jigger some kind of contract swap that makes sense for both teams.

Julion will likely be back next year because there is not much of a market for that kind of pitcher. But we could get a pretty good right fielder for Newcomb or Gausman.
