Peralta and Greinke, anyone? Zack's contract is ass but he'd be a brilliant addition.

I just realized in my excitement that I made a full-on new post out of this. Probably didn't need to, but reply as you feel needed. lol
It would depend on how much of Greinkes money they’d eat.
Anibal Sanchez 2018 FIP 3.62.
Zach Greinke 2018 FIP 3.71.

Has there EVER been a statement and question a certain someone should absolutely never have made and asked publicly more than...
Kinda pathetic to see yourself as a message board knight in shining armor. How impotent does someone have to be in real life to resort to playing hero on a message board?

I think Peralta makes sense as well. The fact he's only signed for 2 more years is a plus to me as we wouldn't block the Pache/Waters combo coming up.
The D-backs should go ahead and tear it down.

Well you should dig into what changed with Sanchez this year. He basically developed a cutter, which allowed him to reduce usage of his fastball and slider. His cutter is his best pitch. When a pitcher comes up with a new pitch like that there is a better chance he can sustain a turnaround. The cutter has become the career extender for older pitchers. It allows them to pitch inside to opposite handed hitters.
I'm a Zach Greinke fan. I think he'll be better than Sanchez the next year or two. But not by much. They are pretty similar pitchers at this stage of their careers.

I mentioned this in another thread. Taking Greinke and his contract might be an opportunity to do a reverse Kimbrell deal, if the Braves have an appetite for it.
As an aside, the Diamondbacks rebuilt last time just like my fear is for the Braves - rebuild enough to get good, but not good enough to actually win, by limiting the scope of the rebuild process only to fall quickly back into another rebuild. I think the Braves did a better job of stockpiling talent. We just have to see if a Miller for Swanson/Inciarte type deal is in our future.
BTW - they haven't committed to stripping down, they've just said they're "listening" on everybody. That by no means precludes a firesale.

Grienke makes a ton of money. Taking him with our cheap pitching options means they took Tehran and gave us peralta and goldschimt for allard and two 40 fv. Not happening.
I would be down for freeman at 3b and goldy at 1b. Goldy, ff then acuna....good luck
Peralta and descalso would be pretty ideal imo. Lh hitter is a huge need. Descalso and Culberson really helps the bench and depth. If Riley is good then you have comargo too.
Just curious... could Goldy play LF? Seems to have little more speed than the typical first baseman. Let me again state, before Enscheff jumps my case, I'm wondering aloud.

The only way I see us gettting a package of Grienke/Peralta is if AZ took back Julio and Oday, as well as kicked in money for 2020 and 2021. Julio/Oday would offset Grienke's salary to 15.5 in 2019 and we'd need some cash to offset the 20 and 21 seasons.
I'd rather pass. I didn't notice this is Julio's last guaranteed year. Players always seem to have bounce back seasons when they need an option picked up or in a contract year.

I wonder if Julion will spend the off-season working on a cutter. That's what Sanchez did last off-season.

I will take Greinke all day long. Maybe not at 34 million a year for 3 years but if we could offset salaries a bit I would be all over it. If they take Teheran/O'Day thats 20 million right there. Please make it happen.
