    Who Do You Trade?

AA said when he took the position over the offseason that everyone started "with a clean slate" and that he would judge everyone over a 1 year period to decide who is part of our future plans....now that the season is over, who do you think made the list to keep, and who made the list to go (including coaching staff)?

    Let go:
    Chuck Hernandez
    Dansby Swanson
    Julio Teheran
    Sam Freeman
    Kolby Allard
    Luiz Gohara

That does not mean that you release any of these players, but if a trade comes along that includes them, you don't feel too bad....Kinda crazy how much hype Gohara had last season and what a terrible season he put up this year...i'm personally hoping that he has a better offseason and comes back with a vengeance next year.

Unless we're moving Dansby to get Simmons back, why let him go with no replacement in sight?

The rest of those yeah i can see them being gone.

You would only do it because you had secured his replacement in the lineup and/or were using him to acquire something else good.

I feel like we would be selling low on Gohara. Why not give him a chance to increase his value at the start of the season then package him in July?

Freeman would be a non tender for me.

I wouldn't trade Dansby while he's cheap and providing plus defense.

I wouldn't sell low on Gohara. I gave him a mulligan before the season even started to be honest.

I'm not opposed to trading Julio, but I doubt we'll get enough value. Might as well keep him.

I think we'd move Julio to get his salary off the books to improve the ML roster with his savings.

Teheran and possibly Duvall would be the only 2 I’d let go. Trading Teheran wouldn’t be as hard to get rid of as some may think. He’s a work horse and that’s pretty valuable. That’d be 14 million between those 2 alone to put towards better resources. Him not starting in the playoffs speaks volumes to me about what they think of him.

It's nearly impossible to move Teheran with a negative surplus/declining arm. However, there are still some sucker, non-analytical teams like the Orioles and who we might be able to take advantage of.

    My main trade chips are:

    Newcomb
    Fried
    Allard

See if Gohara can rebound in 2019, guy had a brutal offseason before 2018.

No way in HELL i trade Fried unless he's part of a big-time package.

I think Pirates and a couple others like Oakland would take him easily. His contract should be easy to move.

I'm a huge Fried guy, so we're probably never going to agree anyways haha

You would be selling low on all these players. These are precisely the guys you don't trade.

The guys you think about trading are guys like Newcomb, Wilson, Camargo, Touki, etc.

Agreed. The idea is to sell high, so you need to be looking at guys coming off of good seasons not the guys coming off of bad seasons.

Well, you had me until you mentioned Touki. I agree on the premise though.

Max Fried is almost 25 and still hasn't figured it out. I wouldn't give him away, but he would be among the first I would trade.

He looked pretty good to me in his limited time this year. Newcomb more fits your description.
