Braves to get Britton in free agency?

From twitter- It's my guess (on good authority) that Zach Britton will be closing for the #Braves next season. Guys like Markakis, Gausman, Flaherty have been selling Atlanta to him & the wheels are in motion. I'm told Atlanta is Britton's top choice in free agency.

That means Markakis would be back. That would be bad news.

Flaherty to Britton, "Cuz, this is the place to be. They'll keep you around no matter how bad you are. Hell, they even let me on the playoff roster."

Britton as closer could be solid. Viz and minter as setup men. Sam freeman, sobotka, lindgren, o'day, winkler, and biddle/Carl/Sam freeman/venters (maybe)

    Britton CL
    Viz/Minter SU
Others: Winkler, O'Day, Venters, Biddle, Sobotka.

Not a bad pen when you look at it. Maybe sign another BP arm.

We'd have to resign venters. I think lindgren will be in there if healthy. I'd like to get Sergio Romo

I dunno, but this deosnt even seem like legit news. Flaherty has been talking up the Braves? Plus Britton was just eliminated last night.

We definitely need to add 1 or 2 high leverage arms, but am I the only one okay with Vizcaino closing again next season? Dude is as filthy as they come.

I'm cool with Viz, but more good options you have the better.

The Braves may be Britton's first choice, but I'd be surprised if using up that much of the $40M-$45M available is AA's first choice when there are other more pressing holes to fill.

I suppose it all depends on how much he is willing to take, as usual.

And Britton just said this about the Yankees less than 24 hours ago: " “I just want to win. Being in Baltimore this year was tough. Experiencing the losing and then going to a team that’s going to win, I think, for a lot of years, this would be obviously one of those destinations I’d want to be at with the young core. These guys are going to be really talented for a long time.”

I'm guessing he just wants to pitch for a winner, even if that means not being the closer.

We could if we trade for an outfielder, depending what Britton gets/wants, and if Julio got traded.

the Braves would probably be seem by Britton and others as a rising young team with a bright future...its something that can help with free agents

The numbers don’t really agree. I wouldn’t be comfortable handing Vizcaino the ball with a tight lead in the playoffs.

Didn't A-Roid say we had $60 or $70M to spend this offseason based off of this years payroll and the money that is coming off the books?
