You are insane. If Wren is offered Price for Wood he better pull the trigger without hesitation.

I don't get the fascination with JSam, but I think he would be an interesting get. The guy has 1 season where he throws 200 IP with a 4+ ERA and suddenly he is the ace Wren should be targeting? Huh?

Nope. 6 years of contractual control versus two and two relatively expensive ones at that. Not even a close call imo. Wood had a lower FIP and xFIP than both of them last season.

2 years of Price or 5-6 of Wood?

IF we can sign Price to an extension, yes, otherwise its useless.

An extension only helps the case for Price if it is below market.

Wil Meyers had zero ML at bats in 2012.

Yes, it's useless to trade the farm for 2 years of Price.

What would be fair (not necessarily market) extension for Price in your mind?

I would give him between $16-18MM over 6 years, with options. I don't even know if that would be enough to get it done.

Its odd to me how young player adverse some are. What did Alex show last year that doesn't make us believe he won't be at least a number 3 starter? Heck, even at a number 4 starter he is more valuable than Price considering his pricetag.

"While McCann's calling card is his offense, he threw out 24 percent of baserunners attempting to steal, which is on line with his career average. He also has a reputation for handling pitching staffs well, posting a 2.98 catcher ERA in 2013, the lowest such mark in the Majors since the Dodgers' Paul Lo Duca in 2003 (2.73)."

Sigh. We're definitely going to miss that. Most underrated part of his game IMO.

It doesn't hurt to have a great pitching staff pitching to you but yet Mac is a excellent receiver.

Definately will miss that part, hopefully Gattis now catching full-time can call good games behind the plate.

That picture makes me wanna drink gas and swallow a lit match. Why does it feel like no1 wants to stay in Atl? IE: Heyward or Freeman

If we got Price for Alex Wood and ended up winning a World Series within two seasons that's a win in my book. Regardless if Price walks in two seasons.

Money and winning generally is what fuels a free agent. Unfortunately we can't offer either one.

Careful, that's a borderline heretical statement (although I do quite agree.)

That would just make fans even more pissed off when the Braves lose to bad umpiring, badly timed defensive errors, and/or to manager incompetence. Doubtful we could get Price for Wood anyways.
