Yeah. It's why I'm thinking Bishop and then Espino or another high school arm. This draft has me changing from day to day.

we could try to work a deal to have one of the top 6 guys drop to us...there are a couple from the south who might prefer the braves...we apparently worked something like that with Wright

BA's Best Tools article is out...

    https://www.baseballamerica.com/stor...th-best-tools/

If you want to make the argument that it'd be prudent to lean toward high schoolers that are a little further away since we can stand to replenish the lower levels, it's not exactly bad news. Carroll ranks as their #2 HS hitter, #1 HS strike zone judgement, and #1 HS defensive OF. Jack Leiter ranks #2 on their HS breaking ball list, #3 on their HS changeup list, and #1 on their HS control list. Allan was #3 on their HS fastball list and #1 on their HS breaking ball list, and the scout's take they posted says "Guys who can throw a good curveball, they have feel and wrist flexibility ... He might have two 70-grade pitches with the fastball and curveball."

Based on FG's board, grabbing Carroll for a little under slot and trying to float Allan (or Leiter) to #21 might really not be such a bad idea.

The FO that needlessly promoted him early knew what they were doing and are paid to do this. We aren't, so we can't know more than them. Correction....they used to be paid to do this..

I also don't see the reasoning behind signing DK over CK, and I'm going to assume the Braves can only afford one of them. Like Bumgarner, DK would be an improvement in the rotation, but it seems like CK would be a bigger improvement in the BP.

Still not really sure why we haven't been connected to him much. I think Baseball America connected us to Carroll in their first mock and said we were all over him, but there hasn't been anything since then. The only thing I can think of is that Kiley mentioned Carroll as a guy who was asking for a good amount of money, so maybe that's it? Not totally sure. I'd be plenty happy with him at 9.

But can we handle 4 years of thethe hyping him as the next big thing. These things have to be considered when making choices like this.

I find it amusing that he tries to start a daily circle jerk about every single Braves player, and then goes silent when they predictably regress.

He never waivers, and it's hilarious. I hope he keeps it up until the interweb shuts down.
I think he (Teheran) finishes with a FIP ~3.3. -CrazyTrain 3/25/2019

I like Carroll too. I wouldn’t mind him at 9 at all and maybe Leiter at 21

I'd be good with Carroll. I just don't think he would be a big underslot bargain.

I wouldn't bet on Leiter. Believe it was Kiley who said that he's asking for 4+ million and has the Mets and Yankees as the only teams he'd sign with if he's taken.

Probably not. But I wonder if we could still sign two good HS players and punt pick 60.

That’d be dumb on his part. He better look at Carter Stewart and realize that if the money is there you better take it.

His dad made $70MM. Money probably isn’t any issue.

That was kinda the idea I was pushing with the thought.

Of course, the question then becomes "if you're going to punt that pick, why hasn't Kimbrel been a Brave for a month already"?

If you were going to more or less pass at #60, you could've just signed him, drafted two HS kids, and drafted college guys from Rounds 4-10 like last year.

Punting and not having slot money are 2 different things.

With all picks - $11,532,200. Take away the slot value at 60 and you'd still have $10,374,800. That would only drop them from having the sixth-most to spend to having the eighth-most to spend. Pretty sure it wouldn't have hurt terribly - IF the plan was to go with HS kids with the first two picks.
