I think Baty is oldest relevant guy this year, which I did not realize until Kiley's chat.

Keith Law chat today said he would've given us Bishop if Rutledge was off the board. He said Rutledge is in play at 8 to Texas.

it sounds like all bad things for Bishop, but there has to be a reason many see him as fine as a top-10 pick? is it simply the power? can't throw, can't make contact...

He has plus plus raw power.

His hit tool isn't graded as badly by the available info as folks here have made it sound. Most public observers have it as average not as the swing and miss hackery that you might think from reading these threads. 16% BB rate vs 22% K rate this year.

He should have above average range in cOF as a younger player.

So when could we sign Kimbrel with no pick attached? As soon as the draft opens or after it's done?

Has there EVER been a statement and question a certain someone should absolutely never have made and asked publicly more than...

Kinda pathetic to see yourself as a message board knight in shining armor. How impotent does someone have to be in real life to resort to playing hero on a message board?

Carroll's stock has been dropping as near as I can tell.

You can't make up this kind of stupid...

"The Braves organization is loaded with pitching, but the best long-term value is usually found in the form of arms. If a first-round position player like Cody Johnson (2006) or Braxton Davidson (2014) busts, you’re left with no value. If a first-round pitcher like Lucas Sims (2012) busts, you may still end up with a chance to gamble on Adam Duvall. "

That is literally exactly the opposite of what is factual. Wow.

Truly does not make much sense.

I guess what's he's trying to say is that a first round arm will continue to get chances? Or can generally find a second chance as a reliever?

    Pipeline's updated mock: https://www.mlb.com/news/mlb-mock-dr...eline-coverage

    9. Braves: Corbin Carroll, OF, Lakeside HS (Seattle)
(Compensation for failure to sign 2018 first-rounder Carter Stewart)

With Bishop gone, Atlanta's choice would come down to Carroll versus Rutledge, with Langeliers and Manoah on the back burner.

    21. Braves: Kameron Misner, OF, Missouri

The most enigmatic first-round prospect, Misner has the best tools of any college player available but also hit .222 with 39 strikeouts in 30 Southeastern Conference games. He's the third straight college position player in this projection, and get ready for several more throughout the 20s.

I'm totally on board with Carroll, but this mock is something to think about. Carroll is one of the guys with a high asking price, so it likely limits what we can do at pick 21. Doesn't seem like we'd be able to swing Carroll and one of the HS arms like Malone, Allan, Goss, etc.

So if they feel the upside of Bishop at 9 is similar to the upside of Carroll, I wouldn't be opposed to just going Bishop and then having more money to spend later on.

Allan supposedly has a really big number as well.

I don’t think if your a HS player, you play hardball with top 10 pick money.

Carter Stewart set a new bar with what he did and that’s gonna play a role in negotiations with MLB teams imo.

Probably not. But I don't think he'd provide a deep discount like others could.

Would love Carroll but definitely not Misner

Yeah. Kiley actually mentioned Misner as one of the hitters most in need of a swing change: https://blogs.fangraphs.com/swing-ch...nd-player-dev/.
