Most people have said he's the best defensive catcher in the draft. I dont know enough about him to declare he'll be a bust and it's an awful pick.

Can’t understand all of the double negatives.

He’s a good hitter. Hamate saps power and he’s expected to have some power. He loses the metal bat but he gets the mlb ball.

After looking at his numbers and considering his defensive ability, he kind of reminds me of Henry Blanco.

That's the weird part to me... I would venture to say 80+% of this board hasn't saw this kid play 2 games. Weird to have this strong opinion without firsthand knowledge of the player

I didn't say either one of those things. Again, we've seen highly touted defensive players perform at sub-standard rates in the majors. What I said is pump the brakes.

Link? I’ve seen above avg with better power.

He doesn’t have huge strikeout numbers. Walks are solid. Swing in the zone a long time

Fixed; was posting quickly while finishing a phone call. Let it suffice to say that his college stats, even in this “rebound” season, are not suggestive of a player who will become a good (or better) MLB hitter.

I haven’t seen him play, so I’m not going to make snap judgements and call him a bust like a few on this site have basically done. I was hoping Baylor made the NCAA super regionals, but they were in the same region as UCLA, the #1 team in the country for much of the season.

But that player probably goes top 5 with that profile

Klaw worships at upside and ranked him 12th. He had carroll top 5. I probably would have gone carroll.

Glad nats picked the juco. He may be nasty but I think he’s 75 percent chance to do nothing. And 15 percent to do his damage after being traded. Huge pitchers with big time stuff usually take forever to figure it out and it’s line zero percent with the team that drafts them

I wanted Carroll too, or Bishop/Rutledge.

Harold Reynolds out here dropping Nolan Ryan comps for a guy drafted 17th overall in a bad draft.

Sure. But that doesn’t really have anything to do with, nor justify, going lower-ceiling at #9.

A 750 ops makes him a star. I think he can do that.
