    Initial thoughts...

    - Pache is the Andrelton Simmons of CF?

    - can someone explain to me what a hockey defensemans mentality has to do with throwing strikes or whatever they meant about Soroka. Seems ridiculous to me but I dont know much about hockey.

    - Are people going to **** on this guy for saying theres a sliver of hope Allard becomes a reliable back end starter?

    1) Scouting reports seem to be leaning in that direction.

    2) no idea

    3) No. Anything is possible

Also that list is super deep even if it lacks that 60+ guy like it did a year ago with Acuna.

no. but if they had ranked allard, say, a 50 and said he's really a 45 but we decided to bump him up based on a gut feeling? yeah, i'd **** on that.

The summary at the end of the article sums up my concerns. Our lower levels are bare, and we're going to feel the pain from that in a few years.

The depth of prospects in the system is freaking insane. Add that to the two top-25 prospects we'll add in the draft. Something's got to give.

Sometimes even in an apparently bare system there are some not-so-highly rated prospects that emerge. I'll mention Camargo and Sobotka as two guys who maybe had a few fans around here but from whom not much was expected a few years ago.

There is one guy taken in this year's draft who isn't even on FG's Top 29 list who I think has a chance to be the next Camargo.

He was a goalie not a defenseman growing up. Makes me wonder about the author of this article.

Peak Ender is pretty close to Simba Defensively in CF. Has stolen so many outs for us, especially in the unconventional heads up play ways.

No. Simba defensively is equivalent to Andruw.

I am stunned at how far down this list Graffanino is. I thought he was easily the third best position player I saw in Rome last year, behind Waters and Jenista.

The author is way more optimistic about Izzy than I am.

Glad to see Waters and Wentz way up there, I'm a big fan of both, especially Drew.

It's past time to turn some MLB ready arms into either bats or younger prospects.

Seems they have cooled their jets a little on Pache, as was expected once some of the Braves kool aid wore off Kiley, dropping him from a 60 to a 55. Notice the comp went from "guaranteed Pillar" (3 win CF), to "Hamilton/Pillar area" in this recent update? The same Billy Hamilton who was just cut loose by the Reds and signed by KC for $4.6M. So yeah, let's not get too carried away with Pache. Good prospect, but not some game changer like Albies or Acuna...or even Swanson. I don't have any real issue calling him the #1 prospect in the system though.

It's very interesting to see this article reference spin rates quite often. Where are they getting this data? From Kiley's Braves sources who have access to the Statcast data?

All of the "he'd work well as a reliever" comments about the pitchers is a bit alarming though, and may be a clue as to why we see so many rumors about the Braves going after SPs.

The air coming out of the Allard balloon was completely predictable. So much for the following prediction made back on 2/5/2018: "He (Allard) will be a top 20 prospect by the end of next season". And no, he didn't mean top 20 Braves prospect.

Given the cost of late-inning options these days, I'm still a fan of trying to develop your own lights-out Closer from within - and think Touki could easily be that guy.

With the game moving further and further away from SPs going through lineups a third time and giving you 220+ IP seasons, I'm not sure creating our version of Diaz isn't the best thing to do, especially given our current depth. We've got enough arms to capably fill the rotation that I could care less about what that would do to Touki's current trade value - imagine what it would be in 2020 or 2021 if he could make that transition.
