Freedom itself has been under attack for quite a while.

They need to take this crazy woman's gun license away from her. And put her in jail for a few weeks.

It's actually pretty amazing to me that the leftists on this board arent even able to round up an ounce of concern about the speech policing simply bc the targets have mostly been conservative.

    Typical socialists, though

I think there are certainly issues of concern with removing content, etc. I think the state of the big tech companies right now is more bad than good, and Iíve been consistent in both of those stances. Iím just less fussed about demonetization of content.

You often correlate associations as proof of some sort of guilt by association.

I'm curious your thoughts on how the calls for bans and censorship so often come from the left. What does that tell us?

I actually respect your position as a free-speech absolutist. I sympathize with it, and share it to some degree, but I canít quite go all in on considering private platforms banning certain types of speech as being a matter of concern on par with government regulation of speech.

I think your framing of the issue bespeaks some confirmation bias. If you consider the demonetization of YouTube videos to be censorship and an affront to free speech, youíd also consider public campaigns to get people fired for their speech to be the same, right? The right engages in that to no small degree. That you personally do not is perhaps commendable w/r/t your principles, but itís silly to pretend that there arenít equivalent efforts, now and for as long as I can remember.

It's more of a reaction to tactics started by Media Matters and Sleeping Giants.

Hopefully we'll all get to a point where we agree that those tactics are actually really ****ty.

Who knows though. Interesting to see where this all goes.

My problem is that when someone gets offended or doesn't agree with an opinion, their action is not to ignore, it's to call for banning it.

That seems to happen so much on the left.

In the Joe Rogan clip above, the guy asked Joe if he felt YouTube would have banned a leftist going after a gay conservative. The answer was no - not because they wouldnt, but because nobody would really care or throw a fit about it in the first place.

Just seems like the left won't stand for speech they don't approve. I think we have countless examples of this...

I lived through the bashing of liberals in the 1950s and 1960s, my advice to conservatives is that they will live through this.

What does this have to do with attacks on free speech?
