I swear there is no group I agree with that tries harder to make me want to disagree with them out of spite than the “free speech” brigade on social media. I agree it’s good that Ireland will not be violating the civil liberties of its citizens in this way. But then I see someone say wrongthink and I want to punch them.

As always, it’s his platform to do with as he pleases and I’m not outraged, but I think it’s icky to take a feature away like blocking accounts and do so under the guise of free speech and not it being in his best interest if there’s more controversy and visibility to tweets. Other companies like Meta do it too, but it’s always slimy.

The way I did, a way to remove a harmless feature (with some useful security benefits that will *mostly* remain intact) in an attempt to drive more clicks to accounts that drive controversy.

You know that term is used as a bull**** buzzword to describe conduct ranging from thoughtful dissent to an established principle to open bigotry, and promotes a shared victimhood between people rightly ostracized for their ****ty views and people who have well-reasoned arguments.

Why else would a government insist on policing the speech of people if they didn't believe that the speech is "wrong"

I’m not arguing the word on its literal meaning, I’m expressing how I tend to feel about the people who use it.

I think the use of the term "wrong think" is perfectly appropriate. You are thinking/saying something the state doesn't approve of, and thus believes it to be wrong

It's his platform. He should be able to make the rules that work best for the brand he is trying to establish.

The constitution dont really do **** to stop the government. Like when they decided that it was too hard to give people a speedy trial if they couldnt afford their own lawyer so they decided you can pick one right or the other. A right to a speedy trial. They decided the border includes 100 miles in land and can stop you 100 miles away from the border just because they feel like it. They decided they can take your property and you on your own dime have to prove it wasnt used in a crime or bought with money from a crime. I see videos of people getting beat up by police for first amendment protected activity and the cops never go to jail for it.
