Braves Set 2019 Minor League Coaching Staffs

r 2019, GWINNETT manager Damon Berryhill returns with an all-new staff. Pitching coach Mike Maroth makes a big jump from Advanced Class A Florida; coach Bobby Magallanes coached for Cleveland's AAA club lsat year and Einar Diaz was on the Orioles major league staff in 2018.

The fewest changes will be at MISSISSIPPI for 2019, as manager Chris Maloney, pitching coach Dennis Lewallyn and hitting coach Carlos Mendez all return. Joining them will be newly retired Alfredo Amezaga, who played the last five seasons in Mexico.

Rain-plagued FLORIDA will be led by Barrett Kleinknect, moved all the way up from Danville. Dan Meyer moves up from Rome to be pitching coach, Ponce Lopez returns and Doug Devore is a first-time coach. DeVore was a well-regarded summer league hitting coach who cracked the majors for 50 games in 2004 (Arizona).

Rome has named just-retired Matt Tuiasosopo to be it manager in 2019. But he will be joined by Rome returnees Kenekoa Texeira (pitching), Bobby Moore (hitting), and Wigberto Nevare
Anthony Nuñez will make his managerial debut with Single-A Danville, after working as a coach on Rome’s staff last season. Former Cleveland Indians left-handed pitcher Jason Stanford will serve as the club’s pitching coach, while Danny Santiesteban will be the club’s hitting coach after working in the same role for the DSL Braves in 2018. Coach Connor Narron is set for his coaching debut after retiring from his playing career following 2016 season.

Nestor Perez and Jefferson Romero return as GCL and DSL Braves skippers in 2019.

completely buried in this press release is the fact that Rocket Wheeler was let go by the organization... I bet there's a story in there somewhere that hasn't been told yet, & I wonder if anyone will eventually have the ballz to write about it?

Just spitballing here, but I believe Rocket has an old school "swing if it's close" mentality when it comes to hitting and that might not fit with where baseball in general is headed.

Biggest problem I have with all the changes is how they also tried to very quietly kick Randy Ingle to the curb. He graciously shifted to a Special Assistant's role so they could take a look at Wheeler.

Has there EVER been a statement and question a certain someone should absolutely never have made and asked publicly more than...

Kinda pathetic to see yourself as a message board knight in shining armor. How impotent does someone have to be in real life to resort to playing hero on a message board?
