If there is no reason to be close to an office people will choose different residences. Some love the city but a significant enough percentage live there for convenience to work.

This impacts not only office tax paid bit residential taxes and service industry tax base.

Teleworking is a death knell to the big city paradigm.

If my job in California became remote based, I would move back to Utah in a microsecond. I miss nature that doesn't require a parking lot and filling out paperwork to enjoy

As is, most of my coworkers that live in SF have ended apartment leases and put their stuff in storage. It's insane how much money you need to make to even have a mediocre standard of living in some of these cities.

I'm the opposite...I like just outside NYC and my corporate office is in NJ...if we stay full WFH, I'm flirting with the idea of moving into Manhattan if rents come down as much as some are speculating.

Cohen says Trump knows he is going to prison if he leaves office. This is going to get uglier.

time to kill so Wiki'd Sen Harris to learn

In September 2014, attorneys for Harris argued unsuccessfully in a court filing against the early release of prisoners, citing the need for inmate firefighting labor. When the memo provoked headlines, Harris spoke out against the memo. She said that she was unaware of it, and the attorneys had produced the memo without her knowledge.[122] Since the 1940s, qualified California inmates have the option of volunteering to receive comprehensive training from the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection in exchange for sentence reductions and more comfortable prison accommodations; prison firefighters receive about $2 a day, and another $1 when battling fires.

So she like Ron Paul is the victim of unaware publication
good to know --- Goose meet Gander

In 2013, Harris declined to authorize a civil complaint drafted by state investigators that accused OneWest Bank, owned by an investment group headed by future U.S. treasury secretary Steven Mnuchin (then a private citizen), of "widespread violation" of California foreclosure laws.[142] During the 2016 elections, Harris was the only Democratic Senate candidate to receive a donation from Mnuchin, but voted against his confirmation as treasury secretary in February 2017. In 2019, Harris's campaign stated that the decision not to pursue prosecution hinged on the state's inability to subpoena OneWest. Her press secretary said, "There was no question OneWest conducted predatory lending, and Senator Harris believes they should be punished. Unfortunately, the law was squarely on their side and they were shielded from state subpoenas because they're a federal bank.

Has anyone asked Harris why she accepted a job from someone she believes is a rapist and racist?

Has anyone asked Pence ? Or his wife Karen ?

Why do you hold Sen Harris to a higher standard than VP Pence ?

Is it because Pence is bought and paid for by the Kochs ?
    //////

I dont believe she has the "job" just yet
and should they win, she wouldn't be accepting a " job from someone" she would be duly elected to VP and working for, "we the people"

Times like this I wonder if Bush41 has ever answered for " voodoo economics" ?

It's not uncommon for primary opponents to hurl vicious accusations at each other and then play nice or even be on the same ticket after it's all decided. Politics is often a matter of whatever is the most useful at the moment.
