It is nothing less than barbaric that the leading

cause of bankruptcy in America is medical debt.

This is why i dont get the opposition to trump from libertarians and some conservatives when its very clear what the other realistic option wants to achieve.

that is probably the most sensible thing you have said in years.
Your grasp of "constitution" runs parallel with your grasp of "freedom"

so please cite chapter and verse where the constitution supports your claim
not a lawyer but just a quick glance at 2nd amendment there says something about a "well regulated militia"
Where in the case of any yahoo can go out and own war weapons it is not
    a) well regulated
    b) or in any sense of the word a part of any type of militia

You support the guy who floated the idea of nuking a hurricane. The country is in the hands of a lunatic. We just came off 8 years of Obama with a booming economy and you are buying into fearmongering that if we elect a Democrat President they get everything they ever wanted handed to then on a silver platter and we will be Venezuela by 2021.......... a small part of me wants Trump just so he can be around to reap what he has sowed.

my favorite Bible story might be the one where Jesus tells all the

sick immigrant children that they have 33 days to get their cancer-stricken

asses the **** out of Nazareth and then spends an entire weekend golfing

and whining about each and every one of his stupid petty grudges

one set of candidates is all in on denying minor cancer patients treatment and the other not so much.
So yeah, vote for the party that sends back cancer patients.
One group of candidates sees no need to grant citizenship to children born to overseas military

    It's all just window dressing.

Both Trump and whoever he runs against have a disdain for an economic system that has been the greatest engine of prosperity and has generated more wealth for more people than any other system in human history. Both parties think they can intervene in the economy to generate (what they think) are better outcomes than what millions of people making decentralized decisions can. Both want to rip up trade deals. Neither party has any interest in: dealing with Social Security, cutting spending, addressing our ballooning national debt, among countless other long-term issues. We're going to have a trillion dollar (or worse) deficit under either party. We're going to be spied on under either party. Both parties have little/no respect for the Constitution.

So what are we voting for/against? A southern border wall and universal background checks?

The fact is if you have a classically liberal worldview, especially when in comes to economics, you don't have a home in either of these **** parties. One party at least used to pretend, but apparently those days are long gone. If they weren’t, someone like Amash would be on the ticket, not leaving the party.

Finally, an honest poster. I'm no libertarian, but anyone who believes Trump has a libertarian bone in his entire body has been consulting Tyler Skaggs' dealer. Trump has made a lion's share of his empire with the direct assistance from the government and his current approach to the economy is Keynes on drugs.

I'm a moderate Keynesian and Keynes himself would be aghast at the current state of the United States' budget deficit. Americans of all stripes have lost sight of the fact that if you want something, you have to pay for it. Where I differ with the unchained capitalism approach is that while the decentralized decision-making model clearly distributes resources very well, history has shown that there needs to be a floor when the unanticipated happens. Growing up in an austere Scandinavian-American farm household, I can't escape a Bergmanesque sense of foreboding pessimism, but there's no question that people (myself included) make short-sighted economic decisions on a daily basis and while you can't fix stupid, there needs to be some measure of protection when things go drastically south.

I think solving the Social Security issue is relatively easy if people would just think outside the box by just a little. Raise the income threshold to $250,000 and allow a portion of the contribution above the current threshold to go into forced savings accounts. Provides some privitization of the program while keeping the basic program in place. Ride harder on benefit limits.
