They predict Braves keep Hudson, Brewers sign Maholm, McCann to Rangers. Not too far out on the limb, they are.
How wonderful that out of 50 free agents, Atlanta is only linked to resigning Hudson and not even 100% for that.
Should be a fun off-season; Mets, Nats and Philthies will spend to get better. What will Atlanta do?
No, not even close. One year qualifying offer is for 14.1 mill. If refused and he signs elsewhere you get a pick. So we'll get one for McCann. Did not make that offer to Hudson, or (cackle) Maholm.
Huddy drawing a lot of interest. If they go multiyear we're out of that derby, IMO.
Kind of a depressing read.
I'm not so sure. Huddy lives in Phoenix City if I'm not mistaken and he's made plenty of money. Unless another team offers him something extremely better than the Braves I could see it happening but he gave us a decent discount before when he could've left and gotten paid a few years ago. The guy wants to be close to his family so I'd be surprised if he leaves Atlanta unless FW gives him an offer that he feels is a slap in the face.
And how is that depressing, you act like we have a ton of holes to fill.
I wouldn't mind giving Halladay a shot if we don't sign Huddy.
thank you weso1!

Depressing in that it doesn't appear we are in on anything and the rich are projected to get richer.
But I agree with weso1 that given Wren's track record on the free agent front, there is a silver lining here.
The other silver lining is that this team needs some fine tuning rather than wholesale changes. Our needs imo are another starting pitcher (could be Hudson) and a left-handed bat with some pop for the bench. Josh Johnson and Eric Chavez would do very nicely, but there are some decent alternatives to both.
Also I'd try to get a lefty reliever, maybe bring back EOF.
This is not the year to get into free agency for the Braves. Any big moves will be via trade
