It is pretty amazing that we still have 8-9 top 100 prospects across all publications while we are still in the middle of a competitive window. Its also nice to see Contreras get a little love on one of these. I think he has been a little underrated by a lot of these lists. Its also kinda funny to see Law finally rank Riley. He has been stubbornly bearish on him for years and refused to put him anywhere near the top 100.

I think Law’s list is way better than most others.

A healthy Soroka is way underrated. Guess he is hedging his bets?

Here is a quote from Law's chat on Soroka:

KC: Do you think Soroka’s shoulder issues from 2018 are behind him? Assuming he is the guy we saw in his first few major league starts and there aren’t any issues, would he be higher on your list?
Keith Law: I think his delivery puts more stress on his shoulder. I hope it’s never an issue again, and his **** looked unhittable in the majors, but I can’t not see that arm swing or ignore the possibility it led to the shoulder issue.

I love the unhittable quote, but the arm swing quote is interesting to me. Most of the people I've seen talk about Soroka have really raved about his clean and repeatable mechanics.

Curious...did KLaw ever mention this "arm swing" as an injury risk before Soroka got hurt? Ever? Anywhere?

Opinions on mechanics are just like every other opinion. The day KLaw writes an article detailing what he considers good "arm swing" vs bad "arm swing", and shows a correlations between that and injury, is the day I put any stock into his couch warrior opinion.

Mark Prior supposedly had flawless mechanics.

You’re not wrong about the probability of people guessing correctly for that stuff, but I had seen him mention on a couple occasions his concerns with his arm slot and injury

Interesting. If so, I need to give him more credit on this.

I have seen him mention it several times over the past few years for Soroka, specifically citing his arm slot as a concern. Honestly don’t remember if it was inn relation to his shoulder in particular or not though.

    I like klaw.
He goes to games and watches players himself. He has connections.

He gives you an opinion and the REASONS for his opinions. You don't have to agree but I like that we get some reasons for rankings.

I think he puts way too much value on upside and tools then on skills, but that is my opinion. I think he is overly dismissive of guys like Gattis. I remember him trashing Gattis all the time and Gattis has had a MLB career a ton of guys would die for.

I don't see what Wright has done to be number 1 for us. But again, he gives his reasons.

He's also consistently been the lowest on Riley. He does concede his defense is better but he says it could be average versus others saying plus. He's come off of Riley having "slider" bat speed to saying he has average bat speed.

If memory serves, he’s actually bumped Touki up tremendously.

From what I remember, Soroka has similar mechanics to AJ Burnett. Obviously Burnett had his fair share of injuries earlier in his career, but he had a pretty long and productive career. So that gives me hope.
