The called 3rd strike looked a little more outside corner to my eye, but it definitely wasn't a good looking AB for Riley. Did not look comfortable.

Pitchers are obviously way ahead of hitters early, but Riley looked late on 93.

I’m not going to attempt to assess his bat speed though

Allard 90-91 on FB so far. I may be misremembering, but I thought he was posting a lot of 88-89 last year.

Allard missing up a lot with 90. Also throwing something I can’t identify at 85, maybe a cutter?

Allard averaged 89.4 last year, so 90 on the tv gun in a short outing is pretty much the same velocity.

I just don’t see how his stuff is going to succeed at the MLB level. Maybe smoot can explain it to me?

Touki averaged 93.5 last year, and was 93-95 on the tv gun in a short outing.

Pretty much expected velocity from him as well.

Yes. Touched 95 a couple times, but mostly 92-94.

Reading much into starting camargo at ss while also starting Culberson? Wonder if on Swanson's days off do we start camargo at ss

I have no idea what these ground balls look like, but I it appears to be a good thing that allard got 7 ground balls out of 10 batters faced

If the goal is to start Camargo 5 days a week while regularly giving everybody a break then why not? Culberson should strictly be a backup.

Just wondering what purpose Culberson really serves. I much prefer camargo as back up ss/2b/3b.

Swanson’s wrist issue creates a real possibility he won’t be ready early in the season. Camargo will need to be ready to be the full time SS just in case.

I have a feeling there will be plenty of times where Culberson will be starting somewhere in the lineup, especially if Swanson is hurt or struggling...

Connor Lien is a huge dude. Just mashed one. Contreras hit a ball hard earlier in the inning.

The game is on ESPN+ for anyone who subscribes.

Are you joking? What, we should just go with a 3-man bench?

Yeah, that's what I wanted. I want to play with 24 guys.

Actually, I just prefer a DH type bat first guy in that spot.

But you understand that depth and versatility off the bench is more important, and that it’s important to have more than one super utility guy, especially if said super utility guy will be playing almost everyday?
