I’ve never read that he needed “to learn how to hit”.

Tap into power, yeah. Get stronger to play in mlb, yeah.

With the speed Pache has I wouldn't worry about HR's very much. Where he really needs to improve is decreasing his K rate.

At the peak of the Pache hype about 6 months ago, FG had him as a 60. The highest rating they gave Albies was also a 60. They have since come to their senses a bit and dropped Pache to a 55...but still the highest ranked 55 on their board.

Albies was considered a low power guy with a very good hit tool, had 70 speed, and was going to play up the middle. Albies posted much better offensive numbers at similar ages/levels, including an ISO of .145 in AA in 2016 and a .156 in AAA in 2017, with good BB/K rates.

    Albies was a 60, so there’s no way in hell Pache is/was a 60.

I agree. Albies was a better prospect coming up.

I can understand a little hesitation but honestly, I've continued to say that he is going to be the real deal. I've watched enough of Albies and Pache. Albies was also a line drive hitter before gaining a lot of lift. Ever since he signed he's been one of the most improved driven players in the system. Every single year. I stand by the thought that he'll do what Ender is doing and more. Time will tell.

I knew you would chime in. I am on the same train. I haven’t seen him as much as you but I know he has grown physically since first signing. I am channeling my inner thethe and saying top 15 list by end of year. Every now and then I like to just go full homer.

I’m going to jump on the homer train too. Saw Pache play several times at Mississippi this past year. He is an impressive prospect. He has the raw tools to be an everyday MLB player. I think Ender is a good comp for Pache.

Was Pache’s hit tool ever that bad?

Thought he just lacked power in large part due to swing plane?

I’m lower than his top 20 ranking also though.

I could be totally wrong, I just know what I saw in Albies and then Pache. But Andruw said everything I said two years ago to now:

"“When people ask me why he’s not driving the ball or hitting home runs, I say, 'When this kid is coming [in] at 16 years old from the Dominican Republic, and you get a coach who tells him to use his speed and hit the ball on the ground, and you do that for three years straight, it’s a tough adjustment to make,'” former Braves outfielder Andruw Jones said. “Last year, he put some good swings on the ball and hit some home runs. So hopefully we just keep building him.”

I always chime in correct Matt. Ha. I just see these guys and yeah I get attached because I use to get to see them from their gcl days. Not as much now, but even in Rome, he was a gem defensively and not clueless as was described. Reminded me so much of Albies in that he was slapping the ball everywhere...some good, some bad. In any case, Waters may be someone else's flavor but I believe in Pache. Guess I've overstated that.

PS..Kyle was my 2nd Fav pitching prospect next to Touki. He's gonna be a good pitcher. Wentz would be better thought of in another organization. He puts together consistent outings away from injury and he's back on Muller's plane of development.

Someone should ask Druw how he thinks Pache compares to him defensively

But I'm glad we have him around these young guys

BTW, I saw Furcal in the Braves dugout at the game yesterday. Didn’t know he was helping out.
