"I am a victim, I will tell you. I am a victim."
"I am your retribution."
So now we are suggesting not signing Freeman to an albatross contract will create so much fan backlash the resulting drop in revenue will be more expensive than the bad contract itself?
Come on...
Modern FOs are smarter than that, and know individual players don't sell tickets...winning does.
Not really getting your examples. Heyward and Kimbrel were traded as part of a rebuild. Andrew had fallen off a cliff and took the best contract he was offered.
Obviously, the sting of losing the face of the franchise fades. And I'm not trying to make the argument that we should keep Freeman because of how the common fan feels. Just bringing up the point of how it could be more complicated than a strictly baseball decision.
All of this will likely be a moot point anyway and will likely work itself out.

Troy Tulowitzki unexpectedly announced his retirement
Doesn’t he have a ton of cash he is leaving on the table?

Is it just me or do the nats use Rainey, sipp, and grace like every game?
Colorado is worthless. They were up 3-0 on Scherzer, and now are losing 7-5. And we’re about to lose another 0.5 games and only up 3.5 and 3 in the loss column. Damn. In the last two days we’ve given them 3 games in the standings. Ouch.
GNats bullpen rears it’s ugly head again...they gave up 5 ER after Scherzer left. Rockies up 8-7 bottom 9

Danny freaking Santana is hitting .322 with 14 home runs, 42 RBIs and a .930. That’s proof of a juiced ball. Lol
Damn: Dansby Swanson’s heel is “worse than we thought,” Snit said. They’ll evaluate him again tomorrow, but IL is a possibility.

After coming off of the injured list to start yesterday, Nationals ace Max Scherzer woke up with renewed stiffness in his back, Mark Zuckerman of MASNsports.com reports. It is not clear at this point whether he’ll skip his next scheduled start and/or require a return trip to the 10-day IL.
An MRI taken this morning revealed a mild rhomboid strain. That’s a different issue in the same area of the upper back/shoulder. Scherzer had previously been dealing with an inflamed bursa sac in the vicinity of his shoulder blade. To treat the new problem, Scherzer has undergone a stem-cell injection. His response to that will be assessed in a few days.
Scherzer is scheduled to pitch the Tues game vs Braves and Teheran
