Phillies have 2.4 fWAR out of their catchers. Braves have 2 fWAR...lol

The return of Mac back home has been better than expected so far.

They have 0 shot at winning anything with that team so best thing they could do is sell and add some pieces for the future.

Most likely right, I've just been keeping up with them bc I'm interested in Watson, smith, and bumgarner... since June 1st, they're 19-14. They have 7 games right off the bat vs teams ahead of them... just something I'm monitoring

If they still had their old front office, I guarantee you they'd be doing everything they could to win this year and wouldn't even entertain the notion of trading off Bum or their relievers. Their FO is much smarter now so I think they'll be selling by mid-late July.

The NL is incredibly weird this year, though. There is only one team that is obviously 100% out of contention and they really don't have any assets that would carry much value on the market. Well, they have a couple but they are all very controllable and young so they won't be trading them. The Giants will probably sell, but I can't say that with 100% certainty. I'm not sure what the Mets are gonna do. As for the rest, I don't see any of them going into sell mode.

The AL is the opposite. There are 5 teams that are definite sellers and two more that probably should be.

Same as last year. NL is the superior league.

He’s always been very good defender. Below average framer, but that’s ticked up towards average.

If he and Wheeler both get traded, it will be interesting to compare the returns.

How much would the difference in salary affect return (bumgarner 12 per, wheeler 6 per)?

Of course that is something to be adjusted for. Given the season is now more than half-way done, the difference in salary the rest of the way in is less than 3M.

I was told by a brilliant baseball mind that the Braves could go out and get Smith whenever they wanted because the Giants were selling right now. Turns out maybe they wanted to wait a bit and make sure, just like every single team in every single season in MLB history...

The Giants will likely sell in the 2nd half of July. Any notion they would do so earlier just because the Braves needed a BP arm was pure ignorance.

Greene would certainly be good enough to help, but he's not exactly dominant.

Jays are smart. To give up the big package you gotta get a big package in return.

He's surely gotten the job done this year and may be a bit under Will Smith in terms of price.
