Wonder how much the political and economic situations in his home country made him think about locking up serious money now as well as the normal baseball factors.

Swanson got that #1 pick money...he isn’t dying for cash like Ronald or Albies. Would be good to sign him on the low but doubtful.

Pass on extending Swanson. That's taking on unnecessary risk for someone that will be 29 when he reaches FA. I really don't see Swanson as more than a 3-4 WAR player at best, and more realistically 2-3 WAR player. Once his defense starts to slip, he'll be a replacement level player.
