Waters 3-4
That is really encouraging from Waters. Some thought he was rushed to AA so to start out 3 for 4 in the first game is nice.

Including Fried, what a job by all starters tonight!
Anderson doing Anderson things. Lots of Ks, too many BBs. A right handed Newcomb.
The short look we got in ST didn’t suggest Anderson has better stuff than Newk...at all.
Wish we had MiLB statcast data.

My thoughts too. Newk has better stuff than some here realize. If he had good command he'd be a number 2 starter. Just okay control and he'd be a number 3.
Anderson hasn't been terribly impressive in the little I've seen of him. Definitely not impressive enough to conclude he has better stuff than Newk.
At this point I think you have to project Anderson as a number 4 starter who will get you K's but who wont have the command to be consistent. Essentially what Newk is. If Anderson improves his control an unexpected amount, he could be better. However, it's never smart to base projections on a young pitcher experiencing above average improvement to control.
lol “an unexpected amount” as a 20 year old in AA who no one but the guy who reads box scores thinks has control issues

I honestly hope you're right. I'd love to see Anderson come up and become an ace. However, walks have plagued him his entire Braves career. We've heard excuses ranging from him working on developing pitches to the umpires in the minors being bad. But the walks have remained. At some point you have to be skeptical.
Anderson will need to drop his walk rate to around 3 per 9 and keep his HR rate minuscule (difficult to do in the majors) to even have a chance at being a number 2 starter. If his BB rate sits around 4 (what I expect), you're looking at a number 4 starter. A guy not dissimilar from Newk or maybe what Jake Odorizzi was last year.
